Need help with Batomys mission.
As the title says, I make it all the way to what I assume is the end, where you have one radiator left to destroy, only to have literally my entire squad instantly wiped the next turn. Nothing seems to prevent this, no matter how I position my troops or anything. There are knocked over ruins for the Batomys to destroy, but it simply chooses not to.

I mean I MIGHT be able to swing a win with a ridiculous amount of luck, but I would still end up losing 3/4 of the squad, so its not worth it.

Did you destroy the Turret?
or using the Edelweiss to block selvaria?

The Batomys' AI seems to prioritise attacking Edelwiss if it is in an attack arc at the start of its activation. Just park your tank by the side of it, ensuring you're not peeking out in front or behind, and it should move or shoot some rubble instead.

As for Selvaria, you know where she starts from and that she will charge down the ramp, so keep your people out of sight or order them to retreat as necessary. You only need one scout hiding behind some terrain to dash over to that last radiator, the rest of your squad doesn't really matter at the end.

Also retreat your non lancers, the battomy will not be destroyed once you get all 3 radiators, sure you can use 1 lancer + engineer + damage/destruction command, but you can do anything you want, even using edelweiss to clean up, but don't forget your captains, 3 extra CP is huge.

So i just started playing this game and just beat this mission. What worked for me is in the beggininning use a scout on your first turn to kill all the infantry at the start. After that you can use a combo of the tank and lancer to kill all turrets. I started the battle with only 8 units having an engineer and a lancer at all of the different directions around the tank as well as a scout. After all tank turrets are dead you can retreat your lancers. At this point move your tank to face where the enemy infantry spawns later on. This will cause all infantry to bunch up and some will die to machine gun just make sure to use your shots to knock down the cover on the way there and dont expose your rear. Now that the infantry is bunched up you should be able to kill all of them with a mortar shot. By the time Selvira arrives your should have two radiators down which you should kill with engineers. Position a scout in cover well away from tank to destroy last radiator when its time. Selvira will be guarding the tank and not going after infantry. After that sit back with the tank and shoot till the enemy tank blows up. The enemy tank wont advance or fire back with radiators destroyed. I got a B on the mission no deaths. If you want A I really cant provide better advice.

whenever I try using the edelweiss to block selvaria, edelweiss gets destroyed by the back/front cannon of the batomys and i get game over. good tip though cause it'd work really well if it wasnt for that :c just too much risk imo trying in case it ends up getting destroyed and getting a game over.

just quit while your ahead. this mission ruins the whole game and proves why sega is a mostly trash company and should stop making games lol. the mission is literally one of those rng nightmares especially for someone on their first second or third ect ect try at it. if you do make it past the mission, i hear from my friend that it gets really enjoyable though so good luck.

i almost beat it earlier today by having a scout wait to ambush the batomys but my edelweis got destroyed right before it was about to be my turn and get my win. idk why they thought it would be a good idea to add this mission, let alone add it this early in the game.

I forgot to tell that probably you need a scout and a engineer in the first trench when selvaria came.

Not moving your edelweiss could save cp, but at least have Dallas or Karl near edelweiss to heal it.
Also by using the edelweiss as a shield against selvaria means that just use the side of the tank to block selvaria, if your tank got destroyed by selvaria you have clearly done something wrong.

The only problems most of VC players get is trying to get A rank.

Not saying you're trash, but people literally play hard game because they like challenges, the fact that you could pass the level C rank and could still continue with the story is fine.
You can also train your tactics in skirmish since I have considerable experiences when using scouts because of skirmish.

I'll say this seems like the most poorly designed mission in the game. At first it was a bit dull since the turrets are so small and sometimes it's up to luck whether you hit one or not with lancers, but I figured I can just be done with it pretty quick and never think about it again. Still think it makes for a dull mission to wait around until the thing opens its massive weak points to shoot at, but not horrible. I even took out all the turrets before getting the second radiator down.

Selvaria on the other hand ruins the mission right away. As soon as she appeared without a warning, she ran halfway across the map and slaughtered 2 of my units, both in cover. And getting them back up is impossible considering her range of sight, as well as lack of cover to get in between her overwatch bursts in the area I left my men at.

Yes, I've since learned I can use Edelweiss to block her, but that's only after 1) falling for the trap once and 2) using external sources for that info. If the game cannot feasibly be beaten on 1st try (not saying it'd be easy or even at all likely), then it's poor design.

I'll stick with it as it's one bad mission, but hope to never play this mission again after I complete it.
How to A rank:
Deploy 2 lancer and rosie near Edelvice
Deploy 1 engineer in your basecamp
Deploy largo and another lancer in the ruins with alicia closes to the temple

Turn 1
Have alicia rush the ace sniper then have her face (but do not attack) the large blob of enemies
(optional) Edelvice fires on the nearest side machine gun cupola and faces towards the batomys
Move engineer in base spawn to secon trenchline near your tank
Spawn another engineer in your second base camp

Turn 2
Edelvice damages the 2 side machineguns nearest it till they are 1 shots (do waste shot on frotn and rear mgs) also use the tank as a shield for lancers
use lancers on both sides to kill mgs (wherever possible by runing under the guns where they cant shoot you)
Have the spawned enginer frag the pillers to block the landships path then fall back to the lancers
(Possible) May need to finish enemies with alicia or use healing request on her possibly fall back to main camp but the trench by the map egde is best

Turn 3
Regroup trench lancers +engineer by the sandbacks or your spawn base that were knocked over
(optional regroup largos lancers and the spwan in engineer as well)

Turn 4 batty fires
Swarm both flanks of the batty with lancers climb ladder and damage all radiators but destroy the one on the right side.
(optional) repair your tank using your enginneer)

(from here on things get more murkey)

Next time batty fires destroy the rear radiator with a lancer causing slevaria to spawn

Place your tank by faceing the ramp/trenchline coming down the hill where the enemies come to gun down enemies as they move past

Regroup all troops (except alicia) by the sandbags of your spawn base camp (before selvaria reaches the lower level)

Finish off the last radiator with your tank (You remebered to weaken it to a oneshot right) . Use remaining movement to physically block selvaria's line of fire with your tank

Fire everything you have at the landship

The game shows you directly where the Batomys' AT cannon's firing arcs are during the briefing. If you park the Edelweiss in those ranges and the Batomys destroys it, that's your own fault.

Once you take out the anti-personnel turrets, there's literally no reason why there should be any Lancers or Snipers down there; Retreat them and move them to the base camp.

On the same token, there's no reason why you shouldn't have an Engineer or two on your Lancers while the turrets are still up. Even if you miss a lot, you can keep firing as long as someone can resupply.

Literally the hardest part of the mission is gambling on where the Lance shots are going to end up. Always assuming you're going to hit straight is always a bad idea.
