Once you know what to do though, it's actually pretty easy. Mostly comes down to lots of lancers and an engineer to resupply them. Coming back at the end of the game with Audrey on the team is just.. lol. She absolutely destroys armor with her anti-armor trait.
I pretty much start out by putting the tank alongside the boss, then using it and the trenches alongside the path as cover for several lancers on either side. Take out the turrets (better lancers/equipment makes this easier of course, as they're more accurate), then drop one of the debris sections so the boss has to stop and fire.
Send lancers up either side of the tank and blow the crap out of the radiators. The moment you destroy one, they all go down.. so be sure to get hits in on all of them before you take one down, if at all possible. After that it's pretty much rinse/repeat. Shouldn't take more than a couple debris sections to blow all the radiators. I typically got it to that point around the time it crushed the first base, maybe just before.
Throughout that time I also typically send one a scout to claim the bases, and sometimes call in a sniper at the upper base to wipe out the reinforcements there as they pop in.
Done properly you can generally prevent the enemy from ever actually managing to even do anything aside from take a potshot or two at a soldier they have no chance of hurting. The enemy Valkyria drops in at the end of course, but by that point you just have to nuke the boss which shouldn't take more than a round or two. She rarely has a chance to even participate in the fight.
Keep in mind that this info all comes from like 5 years ago when I played through this on a PS3, and again several years later on the PC.. so it's been awhile.
You'll find that most of the fights in this game, and especially the harder ones, are possible to do in a more or less flawless manner. In general, the harder the fight is the more stunningly easy it can be made with the proper strategy. It can be really hard, or even impossible, to hit on that strategy the first time through though.
But I managed to win, most of the MVP goes to Elysse for destroying Turrets, Hector for helping Elysse when she's down, and Largo for bringing down the debris.
The Enemy at the top is easy picking thanks to my scouts, and Selvaria's Reinforcements got destroyed, because I bring my tank back into my main base.
