Desert encounter battle so frustrating I want to stop playing...
Tried this 4 times. Always restarted due to stupid AI RNG rolls. The battle simply unfair.
*Endless waves of reincforcements
*One time enemy snipers scoring every shot
*Another time enemy tanks shredding Edelweiss apart from across the map when Edleweiss shooting the sky
*Last time the whole waive of snipers arrived as reinforcements... try to approach this with nearly dead Edelweiss
*Dust storm kicking in just in time to conceal the enemy tank. Cleared up next turn to allow it to hit Edelweiss
*Troops on the right are placed in such a way that they become useless after you capture first enemy base. How many AP's to move them to your base to redeploy? And even then, they are too far from the action.
It looks this battle was made with the sole purpose of frustrating the player to the maximum. Simply pulled the cord out to quit this annoying game.

If you're talking about Mission 6, I'm about to try it; I'll let you know how it goes.

I didn't find it that hard.

Turn 1, I used Marina (sniper), Aisha (trooper) and Alicia to clear and capture the closer base. With my last CP I summoned a lancer (Elysse) as a reinforcement at the new base.

Turn 2 I used Aisha to take out the remaining enemy lancers threatening my Edelweiss (which I never moved the whole mission). Then I moved Alicia forward to kill one of the dug-in enemy troopers, accidentally triggering the sandstorm. Finally I summoned an engineer (Nadine) as a reinforcement to resupply Elysse as needed. On the enemy turn, a tank one-shotted Alicia despite the Evade order I gave her :(

Turn 3 the sandstorm cleared. I used Aisha to take out the other dug-in stormtrooper, buffed her with every defensive order in my arsenal, and had Elysse take a couple potshots at the closest tank before ducking behind a wall. The enemy tank once again ignored my orders and one-shotted Aisha from full hit points :(

Turn 4 the sandstorm returned. I dumped all my CP into Elysse to finish off the first tank and take out the other two by radiator, except for two which went to Nadine to rescue Aisha (and spot the tank that hit her) and resupply Elysse's ammo respectively. On the enemy turn the sniper reinforcements slaughtered Elysse, but fortunately Nadine evaded the one shot they took at her.

Turn 5 I gave Nadine the Defense order, cleared and captured the base for a Rank B victory.

My tips based on this:

1) The enemy tanks are deadly. Don't advance the Edelweiss; use lancer(s) instead.
2) The enemy sniper reinforcements are annoying. Use sandstorm/trenches to approach or snipe them from afar.
3) Don't worry if you lose a few soldiers; just medic them and call in reinforcements.

I've finished this mission. The last part was the most annoying when you have to attack the main base and there's a great flat space in front of it. Eventually Edelweiss destroyed enemy defences, then I've moved Alicia and played her like 4 times in a row as she killed defensless enemy snipers and captured the base.

Here is a really simple way to do it.

1. Remember that the storm also renders the enemy interception fire range.

2. Do not deploy any units on the high ground.

3. Have two troopers rush forward and kill as much as they can, crawl into the trench, or hide behind the ruins. (Watch out for the lan mine)

4. Have multiple scouts head east to take east base, and grenade the sniper on the high ground.

5. Next turn, move all your scouts along the east edge of the map north, that's where the storm will kick in. Keep going until you reach the enemy base from behind, You can either grenade them out of the way, and occupy. If you cannot reach the base in time, I suggest hiding behind one of the ruins (there should be a small ruin along the way). and go next turn.
