Worst tutorial ever

You do nothing for the first ten minutes with no intructions then the game auto saves. Next comes a meteor and destroys your ship without telling you where to look to intercept it. Wait, you think, ill just load the autosave and immediatly attack it. Even then, I dont have enough time to destroy the thing. No one thinks of moving the ship out of the way either. This is the worst opening to a game I have ever seen.

Seriously, the asteroid is blinking on the tacticle map, stupid expecting everythin to be handed out on a silver platter.

Did you try looking at the controls? Pressing F1 to bring up help, tips, keyboard shortcuts, etc would have told you how to open the tactical map, from there you can then zoom in or out and look for any blinking objects, which usually indicate objectives of some sort.

I think the point is that it's the tutorial mission and it doesn't tell you those things. I don't really care for getting my hand held like a child, but I agree with the OP; the tutorial mission is a failure as a tutorial mission. If I hadn't looked at the message board here, I would have probably just uninstalled the game. However, after reading a few of the topics here, I'm going to give it another go and see if I can have fun with it.

ITS A OLD GAME it doesnt jus sit there infront of you for you to shoot it *cough cough COD* try hitting F1 and reading a bit .... OR hit space bar that brings up THE WHOLE MAP were you can see the ships and see the things around you and also hitting ( + and - ) speeds up and slows down the game

lol try starting over and reading all the tips everything you need to do is told to you and they also refernce the F1 key if your ever stuck not knowing what to do to chk the mesges, i played this game when it first came out and finished all of the content without having my hand held or getting lost, JUST READ the damn content.

You know, back in the day one would usually read the manual that comes with the game before playing it :-P.

I actually agree with the OP. But, we're used to having tutorials that do basically walk you through the game, and this game's tutorial really leaves the player to guess what they want you to do and do not really walk you through all the controls.

real men dont read manuals lol, i do admit tutorial isnt great, its more of a read the F1 screens rather than todays walk through boot camps, personally all the F1 content seemed a bit overwhelming all at once at first, but once start applying it and working though the game, it becomes quite simple, as for the asteroid, and other HVT's it lights up with red circle on starmap (space bar), although i had no idea asteroid could destroy ships :S thought that was simply campaign dialogue.

Giving a f*** to the details in this thread, but he's damn right, man! It's one of the worst tutorials the world has ever seen. It's a nice game, but it's very confusing and has an unlogical menue-structure. The first 20 hours of playing you never know if you're too dumb for this game, doing something wrong again or just watching another bug. I don't like games I have to google something every 5 minutes. A game should be explained mostly in itself.
My steam-version stucks now in Earth E1 M5. This Admirals' screen in this mission-intro doesn't close. -.-
