What's with the odd disclaimer??
"If you feel uncomfortable at any point while playing, please take a break from playing or speak to someone you trust."
Horror fans are your target audience, we come for horror, for death, for cosmic threats. Do you know what horror is, dev-san? It's depicting suffering and cruelty through disturbing events that's seemingly out of the player's control at first glance, making us feel hopeless and thrilled at the same time. This is the whole reason why it's one of the most popular genres out there. Do you think a woman who played Sims 4 as her only game for ten years is going to pick this up, hence why you added the disclaimer? Let us experience this game without the handholding and spare us from your attempts to draw the modern audience in.

It may sound silly, but these days it makes perfect sense; there are plenty of crybabies out there who might get offended.

i dont mind having a trigger warning for a game that talks about heavy topis
because in this day and age outrage is a business and there are a lot of grifters who make money off inciting moral panics
There's also the trigger warning for gender discrimination lmao. That's a new one I haven't seen before.

Because apparently it's shocking that gender discrimination was a widespread issue in 1960s Japan.

It's because an embarrassing percentage of western civilization needs trigger warnings for everything or else they'll have an emotional crisis.

It's ridiculous, but it doesn't impact the game so I'm not worried about it.
This game contains depictions of gender discrimination, child abuse, bullying, drug-induced hallucinations, torture, and graphic violence.

This game is set in Japan in the 1960s and contains depictions based on the customs and culture of that time. These depictions do not reflect the opinions or values of the developers or any individuals involved.

If you feel uncomfortable at any point while playing, please take a break from playing or speak to someone you trust.

It would probably be helpful to include the entire disclaimer, just for appropriate context.

1960s Japan is going to be a pretty rough place for a lot of western sensibilities, Christian values aren't exactly going to be front and center. I think it's probably fair to set expectations ahead of time that there will be subject matter that's challenging beyond the usual depictions of abuse, trauma, etc.

No harm, no foul. 90% of people aren't going to read it anyway and just button mash until they get to the game.
Personally I'm just waiting for the game to have a, "TRAUMA Mode" accessibility feature where it censors any horror depictions ala Deadspace. Nobody will use it except for the memes.

You tourists are insufferable. Horror games have had these disclaimers since the PSone days.

"This game contains scenes of explicit violence and gore" is practically burned into my brain I've read it so much. It's for legal and PR reasons don't worry about it.

It literally is the same thing. ask yourself why a horror game needs a horror warning? then ask yourself why you give a ♥♥♥♥?

a warning that people in 1960s Japan aren't modern day progressives as if that's the same thing as graphic violence is ridiculous. it's condescending and pandering to a group of people who are intolerant of views contrary to their own and don't understand artistic freedom or artistic expression.

I mean he's right with a disclaimer, but I don't recall many AAA games telling people you might have thoughts of suicide from playing their game which is what the OP was asking about.

People who have Trypophobia are not necessarily from the modern public.
I have arachnophobia and even so I play Resident Evil, I can overcome the discomfort.
The warning is for those people who play horror games but have some phobia.

This. Also there might be an obligation form either the age rating system or Valve themselves to disclose any sensitive themes in the description of the game.

Not to mention, even though fans of horror games are the main target it doesn't mean that other people who usually not play this genre won't be interest in it, hence a disclaimer like that is not a bad idea in case some of the elements in the game result to be too much for some people.

I have seen games that, for example, depict self harm having warnings about it. I'd expect a bigger company like Konami to put up a disclaimer about such things. This is literally a non-issue.
