I'm going to have to respectfully disagree.
Silent Hill 2 Remake sold two million copies. And was generally liked by critics and players.
A lot of people love the formula of giving a game modern improvements. Better graphics and sound. Much much better voice acting than the original. And quality of life.
In fact it was one of the best games of 2024.
Doomposters lost this battle a while after the game came out. Not sure why you still want to deny it.
Copies sold =/= quality. More people know about Silent Hill now than in 2001. Also, the opinions of game journos are not respected for a reason.
Do those modern improvements just equate to worse atmosphere and a complete lack of visual style in exchange for a generic UE5 "realistic" look? SH2demake plays more like those RE remakes than old SH games, not to mention the amount of padding just to stretch the game out from like 5-8 hours (original) to 20 (remake).
Ironically, the best songs in SH2demake are the ones they just ripped 1-1 from the original with no changes, like Black Fairy.
Money talks and if a game sells well, it is sometimes because the devs did a good job. More people knowing about the game isn't inherently bad or a way to discredit it.
They equate to a better atmosphere that more easily comes across to the player. SH2 Remake is nothing like the newer version of Resident Evil 2, 3 or 4. Those games are complete departures that assume people will just play the old game too.
There is nothing wrong with a longer game when it has great quality. I will always like to be a part of an experience that is highly enjoyable and doesn't end in single digit hours for someone taking their time.
Objectively SH2R is longer and better.
One example of a song that is better than the original is Promise.

You're the target audience for this game.
Remake also cuts some songs from the original btw. Here's an example of a song that wasn't featured in remake, among others.

Not once did I get bored during remake.
