Freddi Fish 3: The Case of the Stolen Conch Shell is an ancient family friendly 1988/DOS era point and click adventure game running on Steam thanks to the ScummVM engine. Gameplay involves Maniac Mansion/Monkey Island style point and click aventuring combined with a few minigames and "activities" intended to keep young children occupied.

This game is over 25 years old, it's ancient. 4:3, fixed resolution (looks like VGA). Weirdly, the devs have patched it from time to time, but this is really like putting lipstick on the skeleton of a pig that died long ago. I know that's not all that nice to say, but these guys are charging a whopping $7 USD for this, when you can play free games for kids, with much higher quality, in browsers or mobile, so how could anyone consider paying for this?

This is just some attempt to cash in on some old abandoned kids game. It's really not cool.

I bought a pack of the Humongous Entertainment titles because they were nostalgic for me and because I have 20+ Nephews and Nieces ages 1-15 that visit semi regularly and like to play on my computer. I thought they might really enjoy these games like I had when I was a kid however they have tended to want to play the newer types of games that have nicer graphics and controls over these old games that are clunky by today's standards. because these games haven't managed to attract an audience of their intended demographic (my nephews and nieces) which I was hoping for I can't in good conscious recommend the game when they have no desire to play them

I dislike that they made the foreigner the bad guy, I feel that kids are very impressionable and therefore have a hidden bias of an "us" vs "them" mentality. it was a nostalgia trip though

For a hardcore adventure gamer such as myself, I felt that the choices were far too narrow, the dialogue options were way too few, and the player just ends up constantly feeling railroaded through the main story quest.

The difficulty was a serious issue. An ACTUAL fish could've flopped on the keyboard and beat this game. We're talking maybe an hour of gameplay even if your brain isn't as big as mine. Maybe I'll go back to playing dark souls then...

The sound quality was okay, but the character voice acting sounded extremely childish for some reason, like the characters were speaking down to the player constantly. Some of the worst overacting I've ever heard.

The graphics felt extremely dated, and even though there are a lot of games out there that capture the charm of lower bit productions, this one doesn't. At all. It looks stupid.

NO loading screens, but the world map was so small that it would've been ridiculous to not render the whole world for one instance of the game. I know games that procedurally generate maps far more intricate than this one. What a cheap game.

NO multiplayer. My friends and I all bought this game expecting to be able to play together but we were very let down when we discovered that the game doesn't even have split screen. This game could've succeeded had it embraced its potential as a social experience, but unfortunately, it failed to even provide the ability to game with friends. Laziness, if you ask me.

NO loot boxes. I was so disappointed to find that I couldn't pay extra for more skins or other cosmetic items for my fish.

The story felt very shallow and simply written, as if the intended audience was a child or something. Now that I mention it, it struck me as rather odd that there were so many educational games interwoven throughout the story, though I'm sure they were intended for players with smaller brains than mine, maybe as a tutorial.

All in all, an abysmal game; wouldn't recommend unless DLC is released that includes bonus characters and a few more explorable areas. Maybe someone like Knack, or Waluigi, or even, hell I dunno, a Neil Patrick Harris cameo. Anything to distract from the clear lack of care that the devs put into this one. Just another cash grab I'm afraid; steer clear of this one.

TLDR: Cartoony DOS collection of activities aimed at you with a somewhat fantasy underwater theme. Pixelated and possibly not enough clues on what to click at times.

Freddi Fish is voice acted and features plenty of animations around the game to interact with. The interactivity does not feature puzzles but there is a logical sequence to follow for progress and there is sometimes no inherent feedback on whats required. There are multiple items and a non blind run is somewhere around an hour. Guides are often required for games of this era and subgenre. Altogether it may or may not fit with a very small niche of young gamers but it is not quite worth keeping on display in permanent library and is best kept archived. I can see what this is going for but really it is not that special or interesting. The niche of gamers would have to be familiarity with point&click and ages 3-9.

Very disappointed. I bought this game to bring back childhood memories and the game keeps freezing. Once the game gets passed the intro and actually starts, it freezes and I have to continue to hit CTRL ALT Delete to get out of it. I can't click or interact with anything and the animals talking glitches out to where you have no idea what they are saying. I've only played about 5 minutes of this and the game won't let me play anymore than that ...

there's something wrong with the mouse, it jumps all over the screen when you move it, making it almost impossible to click where you want to. it's a fun game, but the broken mouse makes it almost unplayable (not just my computer as it only happens in-game.)

The game itself is great and give me so many happy memeories. And I would recommend it to all my friends, no matter what age they may be.

Though there was one serious issue.

But I had to refund it right away due to screen resolution issues. I did everything under the sun to to fix it, even my friends know this because they were listening to me suffer as I tried in vain to fix the game to fit my screen.

So sadly I must not reccommend this game to my friends due to their being no patch that allows the game to run in a resolution long enough to adjust it. So until this issue is fixed (And seeing as how long its been on Stea, it most likely won't happen) I must not recommend this game.

this humongous game does not include god mode. so SputmDebug=40468 will not work on the 1999 rerealease.

this freddi fish has 7 diffent unused rooms. the most out of any friddy fish game. sadly only the 1998 realsed. can access the unused rooms. if somebuy finds away to force gold mode on the steam version or 1999 version. then tell me. untel then this will not be recommend. other then that, this game is greet what it offers. that you need to found all 3 gorden pipes. Uncle Blenny was falsely imprisoned for thaft. so freddy and luther needs to use his dog. to save the town of a evil tyant. one cool thing is that this was the first freddi fish game that you choose the criminal. if you choose wrong it will give you clues untel you get the right answer. this applys to freddi fish 4 & 5.
