Ok thank you. I may not have played enough to hear any effects yet.
You should get a sound effect pretty much right away: as soon as you open the first door. If you don't, check the "Apple/Adjust Volume..." menu item in the game.
Also, Win7 (I think since Vista) has a sound mixer that allows per-application volume - you might need to check that if you don't have the main volume turned down/muted. Open the volume control by double-clicking on it in the tray, then click "Mixer". Scroll until you see the "Retro Shadowgate" volume.
Sound effects, and that was it, death music and the music that played during the credits segment.
Just noticed the download in an update today, and well ... Ill finally be able to play and complete my old Mac version of Shadowgate. The journey will finally come to and end on that one.
*Fist Pumps* now to wipe all my knowledge of play throughs in my mind ive seen on the net in the interveening period.

edit2:- Holy Hell.. you can play the Mac B&W version... **falls over** Sorry old mac your staying in the cupboard for all eternity im affraid.
