Replacing a peg leg with a prosthetic leg?
One of my pawns has a wooden peg leg. I just made a shiny new prosthetic leg for him but there doesn't seem to be an operation to remove the wooden one? Is this operation even possible?

u have to remove the peg leg first THEN u can give him the prosthetic one ! Or a bionic one or ANOTHER PEG LEG !!!! ( joking ofc with the peg leg LOL)

its like this for all prostetics as well so if u wanna upgrade them first u gotta remove the one already in

There should be the operation to remove it, but you also shouldn't need to, installing body parts will return whatever was replaced when possible (ie the part is healthy and exists as an item). IIRC.

Ya no. Don't remove the part first, that just adds a needless extra step with an extra chance of failing and extra meds used. Just pick the install prosthetic leg option and the surgeon will install the new leg and pop out the wood log in one go.

The surgery to remove the peg leg should be called like "remove part (left leg)" it will not say "peg leg" on the bill so it's easy to miss. But ya you typically only want to remove parts like that if you are trying to make say a prisoner incapable of walking, or are training medical skill by installing and uninstalling parts.

Thanks for the replies! I worked out how to take the peg leg off (the 1 wood appearing net to the bed was hilarious) but there doesn't seem to be an operation to attach the new prosthetic. It's right there in the patient's inventory. there is an option to put a peg on again though. Still scratching my head.

It can't be in the inventory, it needs to be on the ground. Not sure if it needs to specifically be in a stockpile, the home area, or just somewhere, but it can't be in the inventory.

Well. There may be a use for the extra step to be honest. Extra medical exp. Just do it on someone who you don't care about. Like a raider.

Ah ok. Yes, I put it on the ground and then the operation popped up. Still new at this game., Thanks for all the help!
after seeing Kenshi for the first time, and then seeing the Economy limbs, it made me think man these are kinda nice! the Rimworld 'economy' limb: Wood (1)
