Hardware for Rimworld in 2025
I've postponed getting new PC for quite a long time now (current setup i5-3350p 4-core, 16GB RAM and GTX 1060 6GB), but now that Im comfortable with Losing is fun and want to up the Raids, I need stronger rig. Also, I saw recommended for Stalker 2, so :)

Question/dabate: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X or Intel Core i7-11700 ?
Also, I think 32 GB of RAM should be enough, and any suggestion on graphics card ? Do not know how much grapchics is used in RW, since it's mainly pathfinding and in-map objects that take the most amount of work.

So far, I played Vanilla no mods, but when the raids get to 100+ pawns, the lag is noticeable, and game getting even slower when they un-collide at the entrance maze. My plan is to get DLCs, up the raid size, but still no mods, so what PC should I get for this ?

The real performance bottleneck for RImWorld is single-core CPU performance. It'll use multiple cores but the primary thread will get pretty busy late-game and during the initial load. I'm not sure which of those two will perform better there. I'd say having at least 4 threads is a plus, but modern PC CPUs with less than 4 threads aren't exactly common.

32GB RAM is plenty. Even if you have mods with modest memory leaks and some browser windows open in the background, shouldn't need more than that.

Graphics card doesn't matter much at all. Just having a card at all is fine to avoid needing to use onboard graphics. Could even move the 1060 you currently have. Heck, could find an old 730 and it'd still be more than needed.

An SSD will help a bit for initial load and loading saves, but that's pretty much standard now anyway. I'd usually say have a small system drive and a larger storage/gaming drive to keep things quick, but again that's pretty standard these days.

Use rocketman and performance fish, will help with late game lag

You could run a 4080 and a top CPU and the game will still lag somewhat with 100+ pawns. It is a limitation with the game engine.
