can trade request be completed with transport pods?
I really hate traveling on the world map and I know I can use the pods to cut the journey in half but if I send the items themselves will it complete the quest? and if so do they send the reward through pods back?

Nope, it'll count as a gift. Need to travel over. If it's that annoying, maybe try using a mod like Vanilla Vehicles Expanded to make overworld travel faster and more efficient.

if you have royalty DLC you can get a pawn with farskip and transport pod to the settlement and farskip back to your base.

Yep, there are ways around it, though it does depend what the trade request wants. If they're after 400 uranium, good luck carrying that by hand, unless you don't mind leaving your animals behind when you farskip ;p

Doesn't farskip take the whole caravan? I haven't used it much.

You can't use farskip while overburdened.

Edit: I'm assuming that's why uranium was mentioned. I'm not sure on the logic there though, you can bring pack animals both ways, though it becomes pretty inefficient to drop pod a bunch of pack animals and uranium.

Farskip doesn't take animals, so you'll get the 'caravan lost - these animals were left behind' message (happened in Mister Streamer's current series only an episode or two ago).

The point is that farskip can be used to get home much more quickly, alleviating some of the travel time annoyances, but you'll still need to use animals for requests that feature things that a group of regular pawns couldn't carry themselves, hence why I used uranium as an example because it's really heavy.

Farskip should take animals if you are in a caravan or mission map, it doesn't take animals if you on a colony map, according to the wiki. I've never used it with animals.

Yeah, funnily enough Mister Streamer just used it again in today's episode and got all the animals to come along. Clearly he just screwed it up the last time, lol

Farskip should take animals if you are on the caravan overworld map. I use it all the time, works fine. I play modless though, so no clue if a mod might interfere.

As for completing trade missions, the best advice I saw above was transport podding someone + the items over, turning the quest in, then farskip back. Otherwise it really isn't all that bad to send out a caravan, especially if you have other trade goods you can bring along. Trading makes the game so much easier, and there are also certain items that are primarily acquired via trading, e.g. Neutroamine, Hyperweave, archotech items, and items that are beyond your current tech base.

Oh, also reinforced barrels have to be bought or acquired in other ways.
