How Can I Manage Storage Settings for an Entire Room?
Hey everyone,

I just picked up RimWorld a few days ago, and I’m already hooked, this game is great!

I’ve been experimenting with different setups, and I ran into something that’s been a bit frustrating when it comes to managing storage. Here’s my issue:

I have a room dedicated to specific items, and I use a storage zone on the floor for some of them. But when I add shelves to the room, I have to configure the storage settings individually for each shelf and the floor zone. For example, if the room has six shelves, I’m essentially configuring seven separate storage lists (one for the floor and six for the shelves), which is a lot of micromanagement.

What I’d love is a way to manage the entire room’s storage settings with just one unified list—so everything in that room (including the shelves and floor storage) follows the same rules. This way, I could make adjustments once instead of configuring everything piece by piece.

I’ve downloaded a bunch of mods, and some definitely improve the gameplay, but I haven’t found anything that solves this specific issue. Does anyone know of a mod that could help with this? Or maybe there’s a feature in the game I’m overlooking?

Thanks in advance for any tips or suggestions!

Since zones, dumps and shelves all have their own peculiarities ( you can store eg art in a zone but not on shelf ) I do not think such a thing exists. But I may be wrong.
But what you can do is set 1 shelf, and copy the settings to the other shelves, 1 by 1.

There is, IIRC, an option to 'group' several shelves together, then they all act as one storage area sharing their setting.

select a shelf, now hold Shift and select the other shelves. when you have multiple shelves selected you will get a button on the bottom called Link.
As the name suggests this links all the selected shelves to act as one. You cant link a zone and a shelf (I dont think any way) but yo can click Copy and paste the setting from one to the other.

If you have already set one shelf to the settings you want, select it first and any shelf you select after, when linked, will use the first shelf's settings.

Stockpile zones and dumping stockpile zones are exactly the same thing, they just have different default settings.
Linked shelves will also cause haulers with nothing better to do to unify stacks between shelves like they would for a stockpile zone.

Hoppers can be linked together too.

Unless you want specific shelves to hold specific items linking them together is the way to go if you don't want to set multiple different storage settings.
Awesome, thanks everyone.
