Implant Gene Bug
Doing a run with a custom space dwarf xenotype from the start. They have the implant genes gene. Except when they had a baby it was asigned the space dwarf xenotype, but none of the genes. This is fine because I didn't set them to inheritable. But I cant use the ability either because the game has them marked as the same xenotype already and therefore wont inherit the genes.

Not that big a deal. I captured a new baseliner to add to my ranks. Except when I go to use the ability it now says that I cant because he already has the baseliner xenotype. So I can't turn him into a space dwarf because he's not a space dwarf but I can't turn the space dwarf into a space dwarf because he's a space dwarf.

Any one got help or seen this as well?

Got the same issue. Except no dwarves. Was able to succesfully use my implant genes once, and once the 2Y timer was up, was going for 4 pawns. But now they "already have the xenotype". Seems a bit weird.

Found the problem, the last update they dropped on Dec. 17th borked the gene system and gene mods so its bugged out for now, was wondering why my colony that's 4 years in and has had multiple gene implantations suddenly cant implant into anything but their own gene set

I have a related issue, I started a new colony with 3 pregnant women of a custom xenotype with heritable genes. I made sure that the fathers were known colonists of the same xenotype, (who were "left behind")

After birth, the newborns have all the genes of the xenotype, but are listed as "baseliner", not the name of the xenotype.

fortunately I do not have a preferred xenotype in my ideology.

Yea I was able to implant early in the run and then not anymore.

I did find a temp jank fix. Turn on DEV mode. Pause game. Set Xenotype -> dirtmole (no others allowed this had to be specifically dirtmole) -> set xenotype -> baseliner. Queue the action to implant genes. Dev Mode remove dirtmole gene. Unpause game.

If their action gets interupted before they implant you will have to restart the process and make them dirtmoles again, but this way the run isnt scrapped for me. It worked on both converting the captured baseliner and the child to have the proper genes.

Having the same issue with the gene implanter, playing vanilla with core and the three DLCs only. :seriousboss:

This needs fixing soon, it's a really fun mechanic but it's annoying having to work around the bug to use it.
Go on dev mode, add red eyes to the endogenes and then implant, remove the red eyes after.

if you can life without the recent fixes, that also borked genes, you can revert back to 1.4.3563 via beta tab for the time being.

i had to work around this using the character editor mod, but enabling dev mode and just adding a gene from there seems alot safer since it will not affect religion where certain xenotypes are preffered (this bug sucks cause if you use a custom xenotype and want to expand your custom race and religion you cant)

They need to get on with it and fix this

You should still be able to implant a xenogerm... Of course that costs up to 8 archite capsules per use, where implanters are free.

Mabye another workaround there... spawn in the archite capsules an just make the xenogerms.
