Animal filth from dogs and cats
I've got a few dogs and cats running around my base, but everything is constantly covered in animal filth, I've read online the dogs and cats are supposed to have a filth rating of zero, but this doesn't seem to be the case, they are fith 1 now. Did this change at some point? I may have to ban them from indoors at this point.

On the dirt topic, my base is constantly covered in dirt, the cleaners can't keep up with it, they clean a room and 30 seconds later it's covered in filth, dirt and trash again. I have several tiles of flagstone all around my base but everything is constantly dirty. It seems OTT, I am considering a cleaner bot mod at this stage. I already have a housekeeper cat and he can't keep up with it either

I believe it changed around the same time as 1.3. if you've got just a few pets it shouldn't be that bad; I have four poodles, a red fox, and one or two others and with my single cleaner bot from Biotech it's been manageable for my colony of 10.

You might want to take a look at your base; how many people are there to your one cleaner? Are you connecting too many rooms to each other so everyone's taking common shortcuts through places they shouldn't be in? Are you placing animal pens too close to frequently visited areas, causing those taking shortcuts to export filth to other locations?

Dunno, i have bunch of wolves running all over my base and they don't make a mess. Before wolves i had labradors, but they were not a problem either.

Maybe your home area is too big, and cleaners waste too much time cleaning places that don't matter?

Straw matting floors can be useful in places you expect to be dirty, like where animals and trade caravans (but I repeat myself) congregate.. Go with better floors (especially stone tile) elsewhere, try to avoid bare dirt or sand where you can. It'll help a little - less sand and dirt to clean here and there means the cleaners can spend more time on the animal filth and trash. And blood. So much blood.

Pawns and animals tend to collect filth of various kinds on their feet and track it around. This includes not just dirt and sand but blood, vomit, and animal filth. It may look clean temporarily, but all your pawns are waddling around with dog poo time bombs on the ends of their invisible legs sometimes. This is where some of those floor mat mods come in nicely.

Zone your animals. Just let inside the haulers you need realy, all other should stay in pens or barns, zoned away from you main-base your colonists use.
Straw flooring for barns helps to, still animals have filth now, some more than others. Best solution is zone them accordingly.

Seriously, elephants are smart and all but never let them into a clean room. Damned things are like self-propelled diarrhea hydrants. Caravan muffalo and the like are almost as bad.

LOL! Nothing but the truth in this post......
I have zones, animals other than dogs and cats aren't allowed inside. I have steel tile in the kitchen and marble everywhere else and at least two squares of flagstone around the base, at least one P1 cleaner, yet everything is constantly covered in gunk.
I just ripped up the floor in the kitchen and replaced it with straw, which never gets dirtier than "slightly dirty". It seems pointless to make interior floors other than hospital out of anything else. The beauty hit is easily overcome by a few arts here and there
