RimWorld

Freezer temp bugging and varying wildly within less than a second.
Basically my freezer temp can switch like 5 or 6 times per second from -6 to -3 to +3, +1, -2, -4 which to me seems clearly like a bug since usually game designed freezer problems increment by one degree over multiple seconds which all noobs have encountered and learned to recognize and deal with. Also it's changing so fast I'm pretty sure it's not displaying all the values my freezer is cycling through. I'm running 100% vanilla and I'm still on Royalty...

Searched this forum far and wide and the only freezer problems people seem to have are just legit challenges designed for the game while this looks like a legit ''bug''.

Thanks for all the help guys!

How big is your freezer and how many coolers do you have in it?

5x8 with two coolers although I added the second one once problems started and had spent many seasons and heat waves without needing two. I have no airlock, am underground and only two sides are more than one wall thick.

edit 5x10 to 5x8

Have you added any new items to your freezer? Has a drop pod punched through the roof and the hole not patched up? Is there a lot of traffic in and out of your freezer?

Sounds like something is adding heat to your freezer that is fighting your coolers. Most likely is pawns going in an out frequently allowing outside air temperature to mix.

You should add another layer to the single wall sides and an airlock and see if that makes things a little more stable.

Usually when I see temperatures fluctuating that fast, vents or oft-used doors are involved. And I do see temperatures fluctuating that fast because I do like my vents in large indoor structures, albeit not usually in the freezers.

What are the doors like into the cooler? And are the walls double thick? The doors should be "airlock" style: Door, one tile, door. That will vastly reduce heat gain from people walking in and out of the cooler. Auto doors when you have them will help even more. Basically when the doors are open to warmer environments outside, you get some heat exchange. The airlock ensures minimum time having the doors open to the outdoors. Autodoor+airlock should eliminate it almost entirely.

Well I've pretty much confirmed it's a bug since when I reload the game the pace of temp variation is slow, almost normal and in increments of 1 degree but is constantly accelerating. After 30 secs I've reached the peak amount of changes per second that the game UI can display and temp increments reach 7-8 degrees.
I'm gonna try switching to DEV mode and raze that entire zone to the ground and rebuild to see if my game file can be saved...

Reminder that I have over 3k hours in Rim and know all the tricks you guys have been giving me, I'm mostly looking for people who've had this same bug and found some fix to save my game file...

Thanks for trying guys!
