But it's not the correct word in this case. This game is addictive is the correct English.
The issue here is not the shallowness of the game... It is the shallowness of the mind which perceives the game. Rimworld is about experiencing a story on your pc as well as in your head. It is about immersion, about thinking of the game even after finishing a session. It is about having phantasie.
If you don't any you won't enjoy the game. There seems acutally be a hard cut for those lacking the will/aptitute to immerse themselves.
Its the simulation part.
One of the huge "One more thing" parts of simulation games is seeing what the game outputs next. Unlike a shooter or other game, simulation games are much less predictable and can therefore be much more provocative for someones imagination.
Especially when you first start, there are so many possible events and combinations of events that its very easy to just want to keep playing to see what happens next!
The big thing with rimworld is that this often doesnt really go away, especially with the addition of the DLC and maybe some mods eventually. There are always crazy new events and combinations that could happen and it manages to stay fresh way past the point most games would be predictable and stale.
