stored indoors ( but not refrigerated ) it lasts the whole winter.
It is something you sow on fields, just like rice, but very low labour requirements. It is absolutely rubbish for human food. So, just make a regular field and sow grass/hay on it.
to harald: "paja" means another thing on LATAM.... mastur.... u know? Spain spanish = UK english, LATAM spanish = USA English, Chilean spanish (where i am from and OP too) = Scottish English
You dont necessarily have to turn the the hay into animal feed, they eat it as straw. It is area intensive to make, but really cheap on the labour.
