I backed up old mods to local folder safely before 1.5's release, then opted for the final 1.4 "beta". Since then I've manually added about 15 old and 15 new 1.4-compatible mods from workshop without issue.
So my only frustration is waiting for the game to settle before I can switch to 1.5 and try some of the intriguing 1.5-only mods.
I'm sorry the workshop doesn't archive older versions of mods for people who got caught with their pants down. Happened to me last time - and never again.
Never had any problems.
You can always use an older version of the game I guess.

I have 5k hours and I have never finished the game in vanilla. I’ve been playing since 2017 before mods were on the workshop. We didn’t even have a world map.
Mods are what makes this game good
previous versions made the drop pods unstable. and other features not work. I also dont get invaded anymore in the previous build.
nah dude there are some mods that make the game incredible. but i respect the vanilla.
