You only have 2 colonists ? Revenants have massive health
James Apr 13, 2024 @ 7:50am
yeah, I'm not sure what to do about mine either. I'm pretty early game so I haven't been able to get more colonists or any weapon tech researched. Sorta feels like an unwinnable fight for a new colony.

I've tried save scumming but the thing has way too much health even if I get super lucky with hits. Other than trying some extreme cheese I have no idea how I am meant to deal with this.

Just had my first one, the hardest part was trying to find the bugger. After throwing out EMPs and setting fire to the whole area surrounding his claw marks i gave up. Ended up using dev mode explosion and set the whole map on fire, he was pretty far from his claw marks.

Even then he took a beating, more health than a centipede for sure.

when the revenant first hits you and sleeps a colonist, the game will pop up with a message about how you can deal with it. Good luck

There's almost no point in trusting the claw marks early on, he can be too far from them. You need to research himat least 2 times to have a really reliable way to find him.

So I guess try to play high population (5+ at least) so that you can spare some people sleeping, or try to catch and kill the revenant right away when he attacks, but it's really hard even with high-damage gear. I almost never get him while he attacks and I've got 10 masterwork chain shotguns. It's down to luck whether he attacks you in a densely-populated area or not, if your EMP guy can stun him before he runs you have a chance.

Now that I think about it having the anti-invisibility thing built next to every single entrance to the colony would work too, I only failed to get him because I assumed he would use the main entrance instead of being able to open any backdoor.

I did ran into a bug where I EMP'd the revenant while he was hypnotizing someone, then killed him, but the hypnotized person stayed stuck in place forever. Couldn't move, couldn't be drafted, couldn't be carried to a bed, nothing. Eventually died of starvation. Probably a mod issue

It's less about the firepower and more about being able to stun him right away. Once he's locked you have quite some time. You should probably have something able to stun him at all times on at least one of your colonists. I know one of mine always carries an EMP if there's a revenant around, but the new crossbow might be even better for this specific event

I can barely hurt him at all. Even if I could fully stunlock him somehow I think it would take actual game days to kill it.

It's a nice occasion to learn that weapon tech is an early priority, I doubt revenant attacked you in the first quadrums

But I suspect there's some really easy way to kill him that we haven't quite figured out yet

I mean, I have managed to finish a few techs with a research bench for every colonist almost immediately, Though even if I had the tech I still would be screwed it seems.

Yeah, I do hope that the Revenant’s health gets lessened just a bit (maybe to better preserve the mechanic it hypnotizes people faster) because in a colony of nine it was a nightmare to find that thing like three times, each instance absolutely whamming with with heavy SMGs

It’s a cool mechanic though, the marks are very useful after the second research event but I kinda wish they led you closer on the first

Honestly it's exactly like you said, the most important thing is stunning them. Once you've got them stunned your colonists can dish out a lot of very real damage to them. Without stuns they're almost impossible to deal with.

He was giving me hell until I equipped 2 of my pawns with stun crossbows. They were finally able to keep it mostly stun-locked until my Zeushammer guy could beat him down.

A fast melee guy to keep up with it also works, but if he's the first one to engage he might get comatosed.
James Apr 13, 2024 @ 1:03pm
I finally beat him with save scumming and extreme cheese. I found where he was an built a thick wall around him with my 2 colonists inside with him. He got through the granite walls the first 5 times but on the 6th try I was able to kill him with my longsword and bolt action rifle.

Yeah the weaponry's the problem here
