Help. Which storyteller is for me ?
I love Cassandra but she gets hard too fast and never chills down (i like playing same colony for 5+years). The other vanilla steller are way too calm/boring. I tried Perry Consistent but 90% of his events can be ignored.

Does someone know a good modded story teller that's similar to Cassandra but doesn't keep trying to END YOU after 2-3years of gameplay ?

How about some love to our old friend Randy Random? Things will happen, good or bad, but they are consistent. The most interesting storyteller hands down

The most fun storyteller I've played with is Oskar Obnoxious from Vanilla Expanded. He makes random "patch notes" that randomly change variables in the game every two days, like changing the damage of random weapons or making pawn walk speed 90% slower. Tons of variety in each playthrough

If you found storytellers are making events that can be ignored, just increase the difficulty of the game. Perry will be insanely difficult on the hardest difficulties because he makes events every day, which is impossible to deal with when they are all difficult events. Try doing a difficulty that you think is a little too difficult for you and see what happens, it might end up being more fun than you expected

I feel like all story tellers end up the same after 4-5 years. As in one raid a year and the rest of the time it's just manhunter, mechanoids and insects.

That's why I like Oskar. You can modify his settings too, so the patches happen more/less often and change more/less things each time. Sometimes the default settings feel too fast and hard to keep track of, people might prefer patches every 3 days instead of 2 and only change 2 or 3 things each time instead of 5+

If you don't like the escalation after a couple years, you could always use custom difficulty and set both adaptation sliders to 0.

Yeah, the reason escalation exists is because the developers designed a game where you're supposed to lose after a while. Making the difficulty solely based on wealth and population makes more sense for people who don't want to encounter unwinnable situations and keep their save forever if they play right. Even the wealth setting has issues though, like how building floors technically makes enemies stronger, or how having a pawn that is good at trading means you make money faster than you can spend it on defense

All three vanilla storytellers use the same base scaling value. The difference between Casandra and Phoebe is only the frequency of the threats. Both of them have a consistent schedule they will maintain for the entire game, it never increases or decreases in frequency, the only thing that changes is the threat scaling which is based on wealth, population and difficulty mostly. Randy also uses the same base scaling, but has an extra x0.5 to x1.5 multiplier he can randomly throw on the result, so if Cas and Phoebe would send 10 enemies at you, Randy can send between 5 and 15 enemies. Randy also has no raid schedule, it's all just random rolls so he can go long periods of time without raids or send multiple raids at basically the same time.

The schedules for Cas and Phoebe are as follows: Cas sends 1-2 raids every ~10.6 days with a minimum spacing of 1.9 days. Phoebe sends 1 raid every ~16 days. Randy as I mentioned has no schedule, but on average he sends something like 1 raid every 13 days IIRC.

Phoebe tends to be more dangerous if you don't understand the scaling system, since the large gaps between raids can surprise you, and the lack of weapon drops from early game raids can significantly reduce your ability to defend yourself as the raids get larger.

Modded storytellers almost all use the same scaling system, unless they have custom code which a few of them do. I would say, since you seem to start having issues after a few years, your issue is that you are probably trying to build wealth too hard which is making the game more difficult. If you are doing something with the express purpose of making money, stop it. The resources you naturally get while playing, just make sure you invest some of those into weapons/armor/defenses. Maybe drop the difficulty down a notch from what you were playing on, or use the custom difficulty settings to adjust it during the game, you can start on 100% scaling and then lower it to 50% after a couple years for example.

Winston Waves, but slow down the pace of his scaling in his mod settings, and set his frequency to what you want. Or - ramp his scaling up, and periodically reset his wave count. Or any other combination to give you the game flow you want.
