Making a xenotype mod
I have no idea how to code or how to navigate a folder yet im trying to make a simple mod with a xenotype and a couple genes. can anyone offer a very very simple step by step tutorial for my little brain to figure out?

What are you trying to achieve? What is your goal?

You can make your own custom xenotype with any genes you want.

Go to create your own xenotype when you start a new game, you can enable all genes by ticking a (ignore restrictions) checkbox at the bottom (might be only available if using dev mode enabled in the options but not sure).

This mod might be a little helpful as well so you don't need to start a new game to make a xenotype or ideology.

I wanted it to include a couple new genes to make and upgrade form of the highmate from vanilla highmates expanded mod.

completely new genes or add genes that already exist in the game files?

Adding completely new genes is going to require some coding skills. If on the other hand the genes already exist in the game files, then its as easy as picking the Highmate Xenotype and adding a few extras ontop and saving it as a new Xenotype.

welp it looks like just tossing together a couple genes to make a creature that i like.
If you want to create something new entirely I'd suggest knowing some intermediate to advanced programming skills, You'd need XML to begin with and then C# for more advanced stuff in terms of modding etc.
