Why an 8-year old child cannot feed an adult dying from hunger?
Decided to try out a scenario when I start with one adult and two kids of different age. Lost a 3 y. o. kid to an infection after cobra hunted him. And that I would say was fair and square, nothing to do about it. But few days later the adult character gets a meltdown and goes catatonic of all options. And guess what, he was catatonic long enough to die from hunger. All because children under 10 y. o. cannot do wardening or practice medicine. I agree that an 8 y. o. child probably cannot perform a surgery or even administer first aid. What I cannot fathom is how a kid (a kid that shoots a gun, makes stone blocks and plants crops) can for 3 days straight watch the only person that separates them from certain death die from starvation. Calling this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ will be an understatement.

I bet you money you as an adult wouldn't be able to feed a catatonic person. Just think about for a moment what is required to get food into the stomach of an unconscious individual. You can't just stuff it into their mouth, they will choke and die. It generally requires sticking a tube down their throat directly into their stomach and processing and pouring the right amount of food down that, or setting up an IV and getting nutrients right into their bloodstream. Both of those need to be done correctly or you risk killing the patient.

The game abstracts these process and makes it easy to forget how difficult it is, a pawn walking up to an unconscious pawn with a meal is not doing the airplane thing with a spoon and hand feeding them, there's actual medical procedures going on that I dare say an 8 year old is not going to have the natural skill to handle.

I was surprised, reading the title - there's plenty of meat on an average 8 year old.

Hooking a tube feeding bag up to someone equipped to receive, or a feeding syringe or something similar requires training and will. Most don't have either. I see it daily at work. An 8 year old likely isnt able to do this, even with proper training.

I wouldnt trust your average teenager, heck, 22 year old, let alone someone who is 8, to look after anything, not even a goldfish, let alone a human life. Perhaps if you were to design a tablet friendly simulation inside of minecraft or fortnite that directed waldos IRL to do it, and successfully treating the patient unlocked The Best Skin Evah, then maybe they'd manage it - but at that point, just put ChatGPT in charge. Sigh, the human race is doomed, isnt it.

I wouldn't trust the average adult.

Either way if options are that limited and you're going to die because you can't move/function then take a risk or die.

This totally makes sense to me, guess I just got too frustrated for a moment and vented through this post. Randy does that to people sometimes. Gonna try to make this scenario work again.
just think that now, if this kid survives, they'll be motivated to go to med school, and become the next Doogie Howser
