RimWorld

RimWorld

Sale when?
Anyone think this game is likely to get a significant sale? Thought it might when I saw the colony steam sale but Isthereanydeal says it never has.

It's on sale right now... It goes on sale all the time. If you are expecting anything higher than 20%, it might go on a 30% sale in the next year or two, I wouldn't expect a 40-50% sale any time this decade. 20% is the highest it's ever officially been. Fanatical usually has it for slightly less, but they take a profit loss on that.

It's already on sale for as much as it ever has been. Do not expect greater reductions any time soon.

It's rarely on sale. I believe devs are the one that get asked about sales to determine how often and for how much for all games on steam.

I would not even worry about not getting a deep sale. Hundreds to thousands of hours of replayability from this game. It's worth the price and more. But surely paying hundreds for sports game tickets or hundreds to sleep in a bed somewhere else is worth the price comparably.
Game: Costs $35 "This is too expensive!!!"
Same Game: On sale for $25 "Yay! Now I will buy it; it was worth waiting 2 years!"
You can see on steamdb.info that the game regularly goes on sale for -20%. Never higher nor lower. Prior to a couple years ago the game never went on sale at all, so I don't expect much to change in the near future. Ludeon isn't the sort to flip flop.

Nearly $100 for the full game. On sale.

Yeah, you're incorrect about it being "on sale all the time", as before I got it, I ended up asking the same thing, got the same response of "ItS aLwAyS oN sAlE" when I had email updates for when it was on sale and never once got an email for it being on sale, even during major sales at the time. People like you are the reason I gave it a negative review. c:

No I'm quite correct actually. The game has been on sale like 11 times in the past year, basically once a month on average for about a week at a time usually. Every single major steam sale and multiple event sales, RimWorld is on sale. This takes only seconds to look up yourself.

Steam only occasionally sends emails about random games on your wishlist being on sale, you can't use it to track a specific game like that. People like you giving games negative reviews because they don't understand how sales work is the reason steam reviews are so frequently mocked.

you should get notification for every wishlisted game. But it wont say specifically in the email "header" you have to open it. Other point is that i will never probably get notification for DLCs, you get notified only when the sale >= 20% otherwise you will not get notified. Which is probably why rimworld has 20% sales.

Steam sends me emails about like 10% of the games I have wishlisted being on sale, if that. Like I have 700 games wishlisted and my Spring sale email told me about 16 games on sale, out of the hundreds that actually were on sale. Steam also tends to pick more popular games to tell you about, very rarely the indie games. Of those 16 games it told me about, 15 were from well known major publishers. The vast majority of my wishlist is smaller indie/niche games and I never get notifications for them.

That may be the reason, i have like 10 games and check my wishlist sometimes to tweak it. :)
Honestly if this year ends and the game and DLCs are unable to get bought by 25€ I will remove it from my list and forget the game at all...

One thing is get the maximum posible by your game and another different thing is milk your fanbase to the limit... 10 years with barely a 20% sale! If I would had to chose I would buy Factorio instead just by the pricing policies.

so your review should be deleted, because you didn't review the game with your review, you just vented on valve corp & steam community but made a innocent game dev company suffer for it.
behavior like yours is the reason why some freaks think democracy would be bad, u know?

I know, crazy right? Imagine working for more than ten years to develop a game and then selling copies to people for only USD 100. That's equivalent to less than 7 hours of minimum wage in my country. No wonder most indie games fail to achieve commercial success when customers expect to pay so little.

check here
the game is -20% off every couple of weeks.
nobody ever said you should buy a basegame AND all of it's dlc's in a single shopping frenzy. go get the basegame, see that you love it, see that factorio or other boring ♥♥♥♥ isn't comparable to this diamond of a build-your-own-game box.
if you enjoy, you buy the next dlc at a later point. trust me the basegame will give you more than enough to play with, most mods don't require the dlc's. until you're done with your very first colony, the one you begun the tutorial with, you may very well end up 1 reallifeyear later. plenty of time to have saved the bucks for royalty & ideology on other games that you've never needed to play thx to rimworld. anomaly is a waste of money, skip that. and then keep in mind that this game is from 2013 and not only had to survive, but also is run by a very small amount of devs which try to pass on some of the money to the best modders - ppl that keep the game as great as it is. neither the game nor the dlc's ever really changed their pricetags, but inflation has done it's job in the meantime. assume a cozy 2.5% inflation annually and those 12 years end you up with 30% devalued money; in reality we had 7% in at least one of those years. can you imagine that the ppl working on this & only releasing a dlc every couple of years to a solid fanbase, which didn't very much enjoy the last one, still need to eat food & drink water? good, that means you see how unreasonable & absurd your demand is.
