any tips for mod load orders?
like i understand the basics, i know... framework stuff goes at the top and other stuff goes at the bottom... the top is important cause you need framework for everything but the bottom is also important cause it potentially overrides anything above it?

its all kinda overwhelming to me. i mean i think i get it but im incredibly prone to information overload, currently im playing with all vanilla expanded mods, all alpha mods, big and small mods, and a few other ones that are mainly QOL, with a few animation and whatnot to make the game feel more lively.

anyone got any recommended load order for these for best performance and conflict management?

Yes, use a manager. RimPy or the other one I forget the name of because I never use it. If you use Rimpy, remember to go on the workshop and download the database file for it. You don't need it active, it's just there for RimPy to sort mods properly, those that don't have LoadBefore/After defined in their About.xml anyway.

edit: RimSort might be the name of the other one, but don't quote me on that ;p

There's not really one way to do it. The things higher up load first and can be overwritten or further patched by things lower down.

The base game mod sorting or RimPy is all you really need in the vast majority of cases. Prerequisite mods should be defined in the mod files which allows them to be auto sorted, optional mod-patching doesn't depend on mod load order if done correctly. The only manual consideration is for conflicts, mods near the bottom override mods above them in some cases if they conflict, this is a bad thing but if you want to force incompatible mods together you make a decision about which one you want to have priority, there's no preset rule here. Basically nothing else matters, there's no efficiency to be gained by sorting them other ways. Frameworks don't need to be near the top, they can be the 2nd to last mod if the last mod is the only mod that uses it, it's all the same.

wait wym subscribed to? is it a mod on steam? i just got it off the github...
From what little I read before deciding against getting RimPy, it might be something of a launcher, so you use something inside of what you downloaded to boot up the game?

For RimPy you subscribe to the "database" on the workshop here, do not enable it, and then you download the launcher and run that. It's an external mod manager which allows you to toggle and sort mods without launching the game, which can save a tremendous amount of time in some cases.

All you have to do is read the directions on the steam page.

I don't use any mods manager, personally.

I toss in the mods I want and hit autosort. If I get any errors I try to identify the mod giving the error and move it and any dependencies higher on the list starting with the mods I want to have installed the most first.

Rinse and repeat.

I was even able to get Combat Extended to play nice with my list doing it this way.
