Difficulty clicking in game
I have like 400+ hours in this game but haven't played in a few months. The game now struggles with clicking in game. I have to hold the mouse down and wait a second or two for it to recognize the click before I can drag. None of this weird mouse behavior is anywhere else in the game, just when in the base map.

Hardware issue? Pretty common for mouse buttons to develop a problem where steady press instead sends a series of clicks, which of course prevents dragging. How does it perform in the Assign Tab when you drag to assign an outfit or food restriction to everybody?

Literally around the same time as you posted this I began to get mouse issues, i'm not sure if this is helpful but for me my left click wont register for selecting unless i group it and my right click opens my architect tab for some reason. Also it only applies to the save i was on, when i opened a different colony it was completely fine so it must be something wrong with an option that doesn't carry through colonies or a bug.

If it happens again and you suspect hardware issue, you may be able to fix it by simply allowing static electricity to completely discharge from the mouse: Some (gamer's) mice are so hair-trigger that they become jumpy and the de-bounce click cancellation kicks in. Unplug it and let it rest a while. I dunno if it helps to speak soothingly to the mouse, but good luck.

For me it is 100% a rimworld software issue, i can even recreate the moment my controls decide to shut down because i have a save about 1 minute from when it decides to stop working properly.

Yeah this is 100% a software issue within Rimworld. I’ve experienced this exact issue with two mice and a trackpad. Clicking is straight up delayed but only while in the base map, all the menus except the settings menu are affected. I don’t experience any issues in any of the menus before getting in the actual game.

Hey there, I have been having the same issue on my mac. The issue was related to another application running in the background, in my case was Magnet.
I guess it is also listening to click and it conflict with rimworld somehow.

Hope it helps !

have fun

Amazing, this fix worked beautifully.
Just curious how did you figure this out?
