If there were proper vampires they would be able to turn into fog or wolves and bats and wouldn't be able to cross running water nor enter someones house without being invited. Etc.
Vampire lore is different wherever you go and in whatever time. For example, to China, a "vampire" would dress like a Qing official and would hop everywhere they went.
Sure, but then you can also go with stuff like sparkly vampires and in the end you can call ANYTHING a vampire and the name "vampire" loses all meaning.
