Is there a diplomacy mod?
I love this game, have been sinking time into a lot-- my biggest gripe, while it wasn't an issue at first is just random tribes attacking-- just to attack. I tired to sum it up as "its their culture" but I can befriend their tribe if I beat their ass, capture them, and release them.

What I kinda wish that there was-- and maybe there is a mod for this, I don't know-- is some kind of diplomacy interaction.

If you at least have the royalty and Ideology DLC, you have the Empire that is willing to work with you on or ask for help etc and they already seem well established. How is it that there are still these low tech tribes that just attack on site? How are these higher civs not handling them? My colonists are literally 3 people-- and I need to establish relations with them as if I am some kind of state entity.

On the one hand, you have some people that just cross through-- okay, on the other hand you have some tribes that will communicate with you then there is the extreme where you have these primitive people that just attack you. I can imagine a response like "Oh, well they are just primitive or have this culture that drives them to attack on sight" -- thats all fine-- but if they attack me, and I take some prisoner and release them later, my relationship gets better? -- so much for their cultural bloodlust.

Then on top of all that, we have killer robots. At what point do these tribes realize that "well ♥♥♥♥-- these robits are ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ everything up, maybe we should all focus on this?"

Or maybe these other colonies are not affected by the robots. I dunno. I don't quite understand how there is an empire that has order, laws, etc while not 5 tiles away there is a blood thirsty tribe of people that they are seemingly not dealing with or do what rome did.

I feel like these civilizations are only there for the player to deal with and not with each other. Events pop up, sure, saying X thing happened with X tribe-- but that is for the player-- whether that is actually taking place on the board, I dont know.

I would be interested in something where the world keeps moving even if you werent there. Maybe a tribe 10 tiles away is letting off heavy pollution. To handle that, I need to talk to them/kill them/help them/ask another tribe who is trouble by this to help etc.

Maybe I am looking into this too much. But I am also still new, inb4 this stuff is already in the game.

Why is it you ask for a mod first, before researching what is already available in the vanilla game?
Diplomacy exists and contact with other factions is possible.
Here's some homework for you ;)

Other than Pirates and Mechanoids, all other factions may be communicated with and relations can be improved or worsen via other means than combat/capture/release.
In addition to the Comms Console, you may obtain quests from other Factions and upon successful completion, your relationship with them may improve.

I do agree that the rest of the world seems kinda dead and only revolves around you and your colony. The other factions never fight each other or die or beat each other. They just wait for you to do things.

BUT before there was no caravans or map or politics and you just pick one spot and make a colony and defend forever. So we come a long way from the start. Hopefully next expansion or new mods can expand on the "overworld" interactions and politics. Would be cool to raid an enemy colony with other factions together or declare war and fight on the map.. or even have other factions fighting war and kill each other and then new factions appear. Then the world can stay alive forever and you can try to conquer the rim. Would add good basically infinite replay value.

You make some valid points and suggestions, but this is no justification...

Rimworld already has replayability value in spades ;)

I do kind of feel like the "wider world" is a bit dead in Rimworld. Yes, you can interact with other factions and build relationships and alliances via quests and trading whatnot, but it still feels, to me, like it's all about "me" in a sense, like the rest of the world is just there. Rimwar might fix all that, but it doesn't seem to like other mods I have because whenever I've tried it, I get an empty world with no factions at all, and I'm not interested in jettisoning other mods to get it working because I like the setup I have.

However, I do have this, so I thought I'd give it a shout-out:

It only affects the NPC factions, not your own, but it does make the world at large more "alive," in that NPC factions will interact with each other, for better or worse. You get letters about the goings-on between other factions. You can even watch battles between other factions like a fly on the wall, if you turn on that option in the settings. (It eats resources, though.) Also, if you notice one faction or another sort of taking over, you can use the vanilla diplomatic functions to either suck up to that faction or maybe seek alliances with others against them. So, it might add a bit of what you're looking for.

You can turn off the permanently hostile factions on world generation. There are three types of faction:

-The generally peaceful ones, you always start neutral with them. You have to do something fairly significant to anger them into becoming hostile. These are the Civil Outlanders, Gentle Tribes, Nudist Tribes, and the Empire.

-The generally aggressive ones, you usually start hostile with them, but through diplomacy, quests, trading, gifts, rituals, releasing prisoners, or other actions, you can maintain a positive relation with them and even become allies. You don't need any mods here, there are a LOT of ways to interact with factions, and these are the factions where those interactions matter mostly. These are the Fierce Tribes and Rough Outlanders.

-The always hostile ones, there is no diplomacy with them ever, they are always hostile. This includes pirates, cannibal pirates, savage tribes, cannibal tribes, and mechanoids. You can turn all of them off if you want to deal with factions diplomatically and control who your enemies are.

I know I can interact with them-- but the blood thirsty tribe that is down the road from the empire will stay there until I deal with it. The neutral factions seem to not have any issues with them at all, at least until they are on my land--- THEN they decide to kill each other. The quests are just generated for ME to do and seemingly doesn't affect the world at large.

This is how I feel too. I would like to beable to discover or see how other factions are dealing with each other. Maybe a satellite feed to show the movement of people or their bases, etc. -- If I am friends with the empire and I see a tribe of bloodthirsty ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ mess with them and they some how are negatively impacted by that-- people could become homeless-- homeless needs homes. I could Intervene and help which ever side I want. -- While that would affect me-- its not hinged on my reaction. But Ill check out that mod too.
