The only fix would be to use the Dev tools to spawn in a new Exostrider on the tile you've moved to and destroy it.

There's a quest that will eventually trigger to head to an ancient complex with a dead mechinator in it. The chance for this quest triggering is significantly higher if you do not currently have a mechinator. It repeats with a fairly slow fire rate, so you can eventually have a bunch of mechinators if you play long enough.

My current colony is 7 years old, but I didn't get this quest :(

The quest is RNG, it should happen on average once every 60 days if you don't have any mechinators and there isn't an existing mechinator complex in the world. If you do have a mechinator, from any source, the average jumps up to 240 days.

Going 7 years without seeing it is really unlikely, but possible. I would make sure you don't have any ancient complexes around that could be it, it may have spawned many years ago and you didn't notice.

What you can do is just spawn it in using dev mode.

I have only casual complexes, i checked 3 of them and they had nothing interesting.

Mechanitor complexes is rather clearly labeled as such. But as Astasia said, its random. You can get several in a relatively short amount of time, you can go 10 years without getting one.

I had a 21 years long game where I only got a single mechanitor complex. I did start as a mechanitor so that probably mattered some, but still, never had RNG that unlucky before.

The complex can show up even while never touching the Exostrider.
In my case I have had the quest for the complex and the Exostrider bug out.

Sometimes the ship from the Exostrider never spawns, and sometimes there is no corpse in the complex.
I just spawn in a mechlink if a quest fails. It just saves on time as it was not any of my fault I didn't get one.
Current state - 9 years without quest on mechanitor complex, starting to think it really broke questline that i left exostrider.

If you start the strider quest, like you break it and have the transceiver or whatever, then you can't get a mech complex until you finish the quest. If you haven't touched the strider and don't have the related quest active, then the mech complex should be able to trigger.

I'm fairly certain I have in a couple games left the strider alone, waited for a mech complex quest, then did both back to back to get two mechinators.

10 years without quest :)

My first colony in Biotech went like 10 years without getting the Sanguophage quests, and it was intended to be a sanguophage run. Sometimes that's just how it goes with these rarer quests.

I got this information from someone who is much more experienced / knowledgeable at the game than I am. They are also in regular contact with the developers.

I'l also point out that its the combination of both not destroying the Exostrider and leaving / abandoning your starting tile that truly breaks the Mechanitor quests. Its a small over sight that happened in the development of Biotech that only effects a very small amount of people. As such only very few know of its existence.

Of course this was a little while ago that it that I heard this so it could have been patched since then so deciding how your going to approach the situation is completely up to you. You can continue waiting and hope for the complex quest to show up. If it doesn't you'll have to make the decision whether to use the Dev tools or go on without a mechanitor.
