Too expensive
I'm not complaining, you are free to charge what you like and a game is not a necessity. All I'm saying is that I would've bought this today if it were cheaper. I only looked to buy because I thought it's been many years it'll be a good price now. Doesn't really matter I'll just continue watching rimworld youtube videos. Maybe I'll get don't starve or something like that.

Do not forget that there are other places to buy this officially with lower prices than Steam.

I got my copy for about $35 with one DLC included from Fanatical and then I used my 20% discount to get more of the DLC's on Humble (picked up "Royalty" for $12.50).

Thanks, never heard of fanatical and it's £21 there compared to £29 on steam and gog. Still a bit steep imo but there's a good chance I'll hit the button. Looks like a steam key? I'm on Linux so steam with proton is the easiest path with a native gog download the 2nd easiest.

Hint to extract the most money out of me generally: Have the base game be £15 which would be a no-brainer purchase, then when I inevitably get sucked in I'd buy all the DLC after 100 hours of playtime.

I went after Rimworld Starter Pack that includes Biotech for $35 during one of their sales (still steep for my taste but the game is very interesting even without achievements).

$21 is around the price I would give this game (although, I find it's true worth nearing $30 because of all the stuff in the game in itself).

Seemingly, there is no game like it on the market, nothing even close to Rimworld. :hype:

This is one of those games I wished to have purchased earlier but the price was still too high for my taste years ago to pull-the-trigger on an expensive Indie game; although, I say, it is worth every penny if you like "Cult Classic" type games and colony sims. :yetuhappy:

Rimworld is a cult classic game. :100percent:

Go to a bookstore. Shakespeare still commands full price. No one cares that you haven't bought the game. No need to come and announce it.

Dwarf Fortress is the game Rimworld was based off of, and it's free. It's also significantly more complicated and in depth. Rimworld is kind of like Dwarf Fortress with training wheels.

Dont Starve is worth every penny, so have fun with that. Rimworld is worth every penny too, it's just better.

If the game was 70$ or even 50$, the price discussion could be valid. But for 30$ and an overall consensus about it as one of the best it leans into a begging side.

I don't care that no one cares, like I said not complaining. If I didn't ask matey wouldn't have told me how to get it cheaper, so the topic has served a purpose regardless of what you think.

Everyone assigns a different value to things with their own metrics. My purchasing patterns tends to be to wait until a thing is cheaper at the expense of not being part of the very active community that springs up around new games with undiscovered elements etc. IMO that community experience is why I might consider paying more to get in on the ground floor of a game's life cycle. For example I was in the alpha of planetary annihilation, and regardless of how much people who didn't play the game moan that it had reversed alpha/beta/gold pricing compared to what they were used to, I got many times my money's worth from being around as it was being developed.

www.isthereanydeal.com site is essential for purchasing games.

Yes...yes you are.
Best $35 I ever spent. And these days that's like barely more than a meal for 2 at McDonald's.

Rimworld is an absolute steal for the price, I seriously dont get how anyone can complain about this.

The value and endless replayability you get out of it is massive.

it may be a steal for its price and for what it offers but...

if your daily expenses for food allone are around the price tag of the game you still think twice if you should buy a game or stuff that money into your fridge.
