How can I restrain enemies after I down them?
I got melee guys and they absolutely mutilate my enemies. So far, the enemies are pushovers and I can have 1 of my guys fight 3 melee fighters at the same time and come out mostly alive. Typically, I end up chopping off 2 of the enemie's limbs, giving me about 4 hours to save them. My guys are also sancophages, so I really want to stop them from bleeding. When I do, however, they get back up and fight me. When I punch them back down, it kills them for some reason. This has happened 10 times and it is REALLY getting annoying. I know that I can get them down to extreme blood loss and then fix their bleeding, but is there any other way?

Forgot to mention this, but this is being done with the camps that naturally spawn that you can go raid.

Use blunt weapons. They will still destroy limbs and cause bleeding, but it wouldn´t happen that they cut off both legs in one go, as that is what cut damage does.

Also have the prison / hospital near the entrance, so You don´t have a long way to walk. And then take the doctor to capture them - the first thing he will do is to tend to them after he is finished (if he´s not very hungry or tired), or You also manually prioritize that. If You have a halfway decent doctor with around 10 skill, and good lighting, and herbals - they should patch up the people without them dying, even if they only have 1 hour left, as it would expand the time with every bleeding wound stopped. If You use better medicine they would patch up more injuries with the same go.

And like said earlier: i never found it troublesome to get enough blood - but then again i never had more than one sanguophage in a colony, while i could probably sustain two or three without doing something special. If You have more people than You can handle, or that it´s a constant problem - it´s a bit on You i´d say.

Another option would be - if You have a whole bunch of them - to extract their genes every know and then, as the only really useful blood option is the longjump - as long as You can´t craft jump packs or the locust armor - and if You fight in the open field instead of defensively. So You can craft a new gene-pack, which gets rid of the blood need and of course also of the abilities which that provides. But You´d still get the buffs from the deathrest. I for myself mainly use them as standard melee pawns, while they have superior psi abilities and are faster - and i wouldn´t need to worry about scars, or age, or certain diseases - which is imho their main benefit.

And if anything fails You have the healing ability to stop all bleeding, and then capture them. I never used it on enemies though, and only two times on friendlies. The healing ability would be more useful if the sanguophage could use it on himself, but it only works on others.

If it happens when You go on a raid - You don´t have many options. I for myself would fight the people, open all doors, and then immediately open the screen to reform the caravan and click to capture these people. If You patch them up, and wait - without capturing them - they would attack You. If You reform, they would patch up the people. Some might die in the process though if there´s little time left, but 4 hours should be enough, as You probably have a doctor in the raiding team. Like You can´t do much with them anyways before they aren´t in Your home base in prison, which may take a day or two.

Once the person is downed, you have to capture them. Then you can heal them and they will be your prisoner. If you heal them before you capture them, they will still be hostile and try to attack your pawns. Hope this helped.

Can I just capture and then immediately drop them and heal? Or do I have to take them to a cell?

I think that you have to take them to a cell, but honestly I have never tried.

I just tested it and you do have to get them to a prison cell, if you just drop them they remain hostile.

Easy, your mistake is healing them too soon. Let them bleed more so they don't get back up. Can also claim those camps stuff and make a prison to convert them to prisoners. Once you win just claim the doors and beds for it.

Oh I missed this. If you're at a camp, when you reform the caravan you can take them with and they will become prisoners. Then your pawns will automatically heal them as you travel back.
