RimWorld

RimWorld

Ocean DLC
a lot of area in Rimworld are Ocean and we can't interact with it at all and there are barely any mod that does something with it too.

so how about time we have Ocean DLC? there are so many thing we could do with the sea.

- Maritime trading, introduce mid game traveling option so we can sail, let us build naval ship, maybe use gravship as model but cheaper and can be made out of wood.
- Undersea base, I saw someone experiment with underwater diving suit and biome. it is very cool concept.
- New enemies type, undersea mechanoid, undersea anomaly, undersea insectoid, maybe some new phenotype races too.
- New undersea ruin to explore.
- New sea base event, Raider ship attack your cargo ship. Boarding action, ship to ship combat like Save our ship mod but on sea (should be update for grav ship space combat too)
- New faction, Floating and undersea settlement that you can visit, sell stuff and buy unique thing.

the possibility are endless and currently very unexplored. Do it Tynan. You have already farmed 200m USD in overall sales. make some 20-50m more.

Oh man. Rimworld setting with undersea gameplay. Tynan! DUDE! You made outer space. Now make undersea!

Very much so. Space mechanics should be able to be cloned and adapted into water mechanics. Coastal shelf, deep ocean, coastal trenches. Pressure damage and protection requirements scale. Temperature constant. New life, permanent dark perhaps.

But what benefits gameplay aside from a different environment? I would focus on raw resources. Deeper you are, the more gold and silver you find. Deep sea submersible equipment.

Sailing vessels to travel very fast using rivers. Canoes that can be carried or, sail boats and whatnot like shuttles for fast water travel.

But what can change overall and expand core play too is a question. I think adding some terraforming options like some agriculture mods. Dirt in cave. Building moats. Tilled soil.

Lots can be had with that DLC for sure.

Can be like a grav core, but one to give pressure integrity for main sub. Leading to potential bigger ships that can space and depths of sea so it can integrate into Odyssey.
This could be really cool. And with the new Odyssey update you get yearly flooding on river maps, so there's some kind of mechanic for water spreading in the game, imagine building an underwater base with flooding mechanics.
They have everything they need in the base game to do this with little effort.

The gravship mechanics can be used for your main ship/base, you could even use an actual gravship to land on water and it would work just fine.

Pawns can already swim

They could add a shuttle-like mini submarine for gravships so they can travel below surface level, just like spacial exploration

Water biomes require special suits (or power armors?) and sealing off the enviroment to keep oxygen from leaking, and the water from crushing everyone inside, just like in space.

If they did this they could focus on adding a lot more content than Oddysey, while reusing most of it's core systems.
OH...MY... GOD. YES.... Tynan pls, pls, pls next Dlc make it maritime.
That OP idea is brilliant, but I'm sure you'll give it a more Rimworld-like feel.
We're eagerly awaiting. :steammocking::steamthumbsup:
Oh by I get to do a Chtulu run.
An underwater base would, objectively speaking, be sick as hell. And boats or aquatic genes would allow us to finally reach the friendly starship when it happens to land on an island.

We could have genes that allow you to live underwater while being worse on land. We could have torpedo pods that act like drop pods, but for going between ocean bases instead of land bases. We could have dive suits and some kind of universal pressure suit that works in both water and vacuum. Special underwater weapons. Aquatic anomalies. Soggy psycasts. ideology memes dedicated to worshiping the ocean. New aquatic animals like fish and sharks! Maybe even new archotech stuff left behind by an archotech who decided they wanted to go for a swim.
