How to unroof an area?

I put up a wall around my home. I figured this would happen, but I have a wind turbine inside the wall and my minions tried to roof the whole area in. How do I designate an area a no roof area?

Use the ‘remove roof’ tool to designate the area to have no roof.

Remove roof tool will also stop them building a roof in that area to begin with, and building an area too large to roof may stop them even trying unless explicitly told to roof an area.

I believe there's a mod to prevent automatically building roofs over newly walled rooms but am presently on a mobile device so can't easily check.

There is a setting for it, somewhere on the GUI, on the right.

That button over there turns on/off the "show roofs" overlay.

Okay. I'll look again. I know there is a toggle for where there is a roof. I just didn't see a remove roof button. Maybe if I have it toggled in... I'll go look again.

Dont forget, when you set a "remove roof" area, it stays on the map. So if you later rebuild that area, they will not put a roof there, if the area is still marked as "remove roof".
Double check when rearranging your base.
It can be frustrating to have no roof and don't know why.
