[modded question] need some advice/tips for Vanilla Food Variety Expanded
hi everyone.

while i understand the general concept of this mod, i struggle in creating fitting bills, especially in terms of how many meals/colonists. what i mean is: if i plan to offer 3 type of meals (for now): simple meal, simple soup (mod) and simple grilled meal (mod), how many of each should i have to guarantee that my pawns will have variety? e.g. if i have 18 colonists, should i have 9,18 or 36 of each meals?
in addition to that; how do you handle ingredient variety? im aware that in the end i probably want 7 different ingredients. but then what? do i A) have multiple bills of the same meal but with different ingredients? e.g. have 3 different simple meal/soup/grilled meal-bills, each with a different combination of ingredients OR B) have only one meal-bill and each bill always has the same ingredient? e.g. simple meals will always be made of corn; simple soups always use rice and simple grilled meal always uses the same animal for meat.

i apologize if all of this is confusing, but too be honest im confused myself.

anways, thank you very much for your help.

there should be a mod on your list already... name is basically "everyone gets one".

just make 3 bills of that with standard, soup and grilled without changing it... or reduce it to "everyone gets one" minus 5 and you should be good.

no change would translate that your cook makes one meal per colonist plus 10 spare for every category you want.

for 18 pawns, he would try to keep 28 of everything in stock.

I just have a confusing mess of small bills. Yeah, at the top will be survival/efficiency bills like "Simple starch meal" x4 but threshold is 2; and it takes common ingredients that keep without refrigeration.

If you enjoy food and have a few mods then inventing a bill for fish taco or having two different pemmican recipes should be fun.

Maybe consider the randomize ingredients option from the mod Best Mix.
