Meteors and Ship Chunks are scary sometimes
So I made this grand throne room that I may use to go for the Royalty ending. And this chunk of spacecraft lands right in front of the throne. Has anyone had a visit from the High Stellarch that ended with them being crushed by space debris or struck by lightning? I know both situations are possible.

not a meteor or some such, but I once had a psylink bestow-er priest guy have a heart attack mid ceremony and I got in trouble for it xD. I used is as a canon event and joined the deserters lmao.

Love when completely ridiculous situations get blamed on you when you had no power to stop it. There is a mod to prevent that, at least in part, but just a couple hours ago I had some beggars come in, one was a Hussar that started a social fight with a Genie in their group, the Hussar wound up killing them, and then they all went hostile against me and got immediately gunned down.

I almost always have thick mountain roofs over important rooms, so it's very rare meteors cause problems. (these days, that is. In the past I used a mod that let me remove thick roofs and it took far too long before I realized it actually just turned all roofs into thin ones. That did cause a drop pod attack in my throne room that smashed the only legendary statue I had).

I did have one recent game where I suddenly noticed a bunch of dead or severely wounded muffalos on the map, which was puzzling until I found a meteor with a lot of blood splatters under it, like something out of a cartoon. It must have hit right in the middle of the herd.

thats the spirit... tailoring ingame events into the story as it happens.

the high stellarch being crushed on the throne... the bestower having a heart attack.
as if the gods of RNG said.. nope.. you ain't taking the royal route.

i am certain that there is a screen of a bestower literally being a vegetable (frail, unable to walk, dementia, helplessly laying on the floor) that is flying around the screenshots...

This is the way
I've had meteors hit colonist before, very scary.

Base has a wall around it. One spot has no door/an open space--the path I want raiders to follow. Had a meteor fall on that exact spot and block the opening. Didn't realize it, hilarity ensues on the next raid.

One I actually... savescummed was a difficult child birth and medical emergency with a drop raid right where the baby and mother were. Mid surgeries, etc....

f that one... too much for me, gotta admit it.

Yeah, there've definitely been times where the game gives such a middle finger that I abuse the dev mode and just delete the problem. Like a quest where a child joins the colony with a large raid or manhunters, and the child enters the map right next to the only predator on the map which immediately starts hunting them? Nuh-uh, happens too often, not taking that bull, predator deleted.
Wait until you see drop pod raid drops right inside your stash where it also has 1 antigrain sitting there.

Never have I feel so justified using Nuke in Rimworld after losing 200 adv components + lost count amount of masterwork and legendary gears.

I'm not sure if it's base game or if it's a mod I'm using (probably the latter) but at one noble rank you get granted a highmate. It got dropped right in the middle of the throne room, destroying my fancy meditation throne and some collapsed ceilings, and also making people mad I didn't have a throne room. But I kinda love the random stuff dropping from the sky. Just like the one time I had a drop pod raid happen in the building with the bedrooms. In the fight multiple rooms got destroyed and half the building was on fire but the only injury on my side was a head injury as a result of the roof collapsing on a pawn who was sleeping when 10 drop pods landed in his room.

And it never occurred to you to have bunkers for such sensitive items under thick mountain roofs? Learn from the Swiss and the Swedes: a storage facility needs to be HUGGET I GRANIT!

*insert your Ernest-Hugo Järegård meme here*
