toxic waste ...
is drilling room deep in a mountain and store toxic waste there a good idea ?
or pollution will spread around a map anyway ?
i try use it as defence to pollute path for riders but toxic buildup in body take to long :)

Weaponizing toxic waste is highly inefficient. Building a few toxlaunchers is faster, cheaper, and more effective*.

Any time toxic waste 'dissolves' or reaches 0 hp it spews out pollution. Freezing them is the only way to stop the pollution spread. Eventually you'll choose to caravan/transport pod waste off your map or research the Waste Atomizer and safely destroy them.

*Toxic resistant/immune xenotypes change effectiveness, obviously.

If you could just dump it in a cave then there'd be no point in putting it in a freezer.

How many mechs do you have? I have like 10 workers and a few ultraheavy mechs that sleep most of the time, and 3 Toxic Atomizes easily utilize all the waste packs I produce + I've atomized everything I got before I can build Toxic atomizers.

it could trigger infestations too but not sure if they also spawn and destroy rock/mountain.

this is my new colony so only 5 workers and 2 militors :) Toxic Atomizers are late tech so i gonna store my waste under a mountain for now .

oh yeah good point .... polluted land cant spawn infestations ffffff.....
well if they show up i just cook them :)

Pollution can be managed in a mountain base, but just hiding it under a roof isn't going to neutralize it. If you can't handle freezing it, just be aware that it will start to cause problems as you pollute your environment more and more.

If you can afford to build mechs you can afford a freezer for the waste.

im worry about solar flares and Zzzzt :) when everything will go out of power and my only 2 colonists wont have time to move all waste away from colony to safer place

Both of those are even less of an issue if you build separate freezer for the waste and don't use it as meeting spot.

I think it takes time for the waste to start to pollute so it would be fine until the solar flare passes. It doesn't instantly explode sending pollution all over the base the moment the freezer stops working.

Before I got the technology I built two storages ~12x12 on the edge (roofed and walled), and the cold season lasts half of the year on my title, so all of this together slowed down the determination and the environment is 90% clean.

That may be a viable option for now, but that will soon change and you may wish to reconsider,

we'll see how bad it gets, we can probably make another colony as a toxic waste dump.
At least Atomizers use less energy as well.

Handling waste is easy.

My setup is 2 Solar Panels, a Battery, two Coolers and a big room that can store ~ 400 packs. All on the edge of the map in a jungle climate (colder climates likely need less power / can build bigger storage). If some waste dissolves because something went wrong I can afford to power ~3 Waste Pumps with just the Panels to clean it up. Make sure that the whole thing is fire-proofed with stone walls (including around the Panels) and stone floors.

Local noble uses his Call Shuttle ability to dump waste FAR away every time it's off cooldown. For the amount of mechs I have I would likely need two Nobles though.

If you don't have nobles that can Call Shuttle then Transport Pods are an option. Keeping some Boomalopes for a steady fuel supply isn't too big of a deal. Steel isn't too big of an issue either, but can get costly depending on your waste production.

The only drawback so far that I have run into is that Toxic Infestations have spawned RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF MY FARMING FIELDS. I have no idea if this mechanic is working as intended or if this is a bug, as I assumed that the new Infestations only spawn on pollution / near dissolving packs. I have neither on my crop fields for obvious reasons. Having to fire rocket launchers onto my Devilstrand farms isn't fun.

I would highly recommend not to store your waste under a mountain. If you ever get a Toxic Infestation or a regular Infestation then you will likely want to use fire to burn the bugs. Fire will dissolve the packs and create Tox Gas, which doesn't harm bugs, but harms you colonists AFAIK. Depending on the amount of packs you have stored this can completely ruin your map. 400 packs pollute 6 squares each, meaning that almost 5% of a small map is instantly turned into a wasteland with just one incident.
