I am trying to tame a thrumbo. My pawn has 15 animals skills. Is there anything I can do to increase my chances ?

The inspired taming is usually how I do it.

Hit it on the ground and groomed it or have a training inspiration

so, in order to get your thrumbo, you may have to purchace the pet tamer outpost which is currently on steam for about one grand but in order to get in vanilla you may not be able too but on strawberry it might just work with the good ol' bonze.buddy.exe if not you can use the alternate option, bonzai buddy. hope this helps:boomer:

best chances are a taming inspiration, short of that you need an extreme amount of luck or cheese the bad cop good cop routine by downing them and nursing them back to health lol.

98% wilderness , insanely hard to train even if you catch them and 2.8 Nutrition / day Near double of regular human's. There's technically little reason to keep them , most of the time they run away.

Personally I would only get them with RIm's of Magic mod's hunter class.

Unless you have a taming inspiration don't bother and instead kill it, use overwhelming force, psycasts (burden with someone else kiting). Even running it into traders or using a shock lance then having 3 guys with revolvers works, the lance will even pay for itself.

Funny thing is, you're often better off downing the thrumbo, rescuing it, and then having someone with a good animal skill tend to it as it recovers. With luck, they'll bond and it'll join the colony.

Animals specialist. Easier with 'farm life' meme mod that changes rancher to plants & animals stuff, but kind of makes the game a lot easier.

Tip I haven't seen mentioned yet: you can wall a herd of thrumbo in, and as long as they have enough food (ideally a BIG pen with plenty of trees, because you don't want to have to feed them manually) they'll stay in the pen indefinitely.

From there, it's just a matter of spoiling your animal handler until they get an inspiration, or manually proccing them with a psicaster. There's also the odd self-tame event, which you can't rely on, but it doesn't hurt if a thrumbo is always on-map and thus a potential recipient.

The beatup method works as well as mentioned, though it's also a pain and you're more likely to get a brain-damaged thrumbo instead of a tame.

I think nearly all the times I've tamed a thrumbo is with the inspired taming. The chance is very low even with a very high skill.

Never managed to tame one without inspired taming.

It's about a 1-2% tame chance at best. Aside from inspired taming, what you can do is pen it in with walls and a door. As long as you keep it fed it's going to stay put. From there you just have to keep trying, though it's probably going to take a while.

You really just need a male and a female one then in time you'll have lots of them, although they do take a long time to breed. I've used inspired taming on two in my current game.
