Biosculpt Pod Regeneration
I had this pawn join my transhuman colony. She's not terribly valuable, but she was craving some sort of a body mod, so I decided a bionic tongue. I was using my backup doc (who's still pretty decent at 15), when things went bad in surgery. Poor thing lost her eye, but more importantly her jaw. While she was still under I put on a denture, so she's not completely screwed up... but still.

Anyway, assuming I get her eye replaced with something.. she'd only have the jaw as a permanent injury.

So my question: once I research Bioregeneration, and toss her in the Pod for a regen cycle... do I need to remove that denture prior to regen? or will it just cease to exist once the jaw is regen'ed?

Generally you need to remove the artificial part.

However bioregeneration can't regenerate a jaw.

Only the following body parts can be regenerated by the biosculpting pods bioregeneration: Eye, Ear, Nose, Finger, Toe and Tongue.

Oh. Crap. So I need to shoot for bionics then? If I can make a bionic tongue... does that replace a denture? I mean, I lost the original bionic tongue in the failed surgery. Does anything short of a healer mech regen a jaw? I've had any number of pawns lose jaws... but that was back when I didn't really have the tech level to address it.

There are no bionics for the jaw slot. Short of a healer mech serum (that works) you only have the option of dentures.

Doesn't the denture satisfy the artificial part need? You kinda got what you wanted anyways

LOL. Yea, I guess it does... Thankfully I didn't put it into the slave/colonist I'd bought to be my caravan seller lady, she's already got a wooden hand tho. And I got one of those archo arms... but since I'm still technically playing the archomap quest line in this run, I'd rather put that on someone who'll get picked in for the next pick 5 round.

Unless the colonist is one of your main social pawns, the denture really doesn't have any noticeable negative effect, slightly slower eating but can be negated with bionic arms. Installing dentures on body modders even if they aren't missing their jaw is a common way to get the prosthetic buff for them with basically no meaningful downside, with cochlear implants being another good but more expensive option. The loss in talking is low enough not to trigger a stat loss in animal related skills, so your handlers are fine with a denture, while a cochlear implant has a large enough effect on hearing for that to be slightly detrimental for them. Either is bad for a social pawn, cochlear implant is bad for a handler, otherwise they are "free mood buffs" for bodymodders. Not actually free obviously, but cheap enough heh.
