If you ever want to execute a prisoner, it gives less of a mood loss than just executing by cut or beating them to death with a club

It's also a medical procedure, so it trains your medics.

i normally just harvest and remove every non lethal thing from them so they are defenseless and throw them outside for the animals

It's one of the better ways to get rid of colonists you don't want. Euthanize and banish are the default methods, both have a -3 mood penalty for 6 days for your other colonists, but with euthanize you get a body to butcher and you don't lose any clothes. If you banish a naked colonist there's a good chance it becomes "banished to death" because of exposure, which is a -6 penalty.

You could also get creative and let them die "naturally" by restricting them from food, assigning them to a dangerous area like the freezer, or having them go punch bears, which is also -3. Or there's arresting them and removing a wall/door to let them escape which has no mood penalty, but a risk of injury during the arrest.

Rimworld should have Sociopath as a trait and "Euthanize by Cut" should give them a Mood bonus due to "Recreation."

The one time I used the euthenaze by cut, was on a colonist who had lost their spine during a tribal play through. It would have been years and years and probably a mod or two before they could have ever walked again.

That's not what "sociopath" means, and Psychopathy (which is what you're describing) already exists in the game. :p

Well, a psychopath isn't really defined correctly in the Rimworld traits. (IMO, being several decades out of date myself) So, I had to improvise, choosing the extremely socially removed sort of objectifying point of view of people a sociopath may have. "Psychopathy" is a pretty broad term. At the time I was studying it, the DSM-III was burning its way through classrooms. The thing is, I remember the profs for abnormal psych classes getting sort of heated up arguing for/against sociopathy and/or antisocial personality disorders and psychopathy all in the same couple of breaths.

So, because of your post, I decided to find out why my point of view was the way it was. https://opensiuc.lib.siu.edu/cgi/viewcontent.cgi%3Farticle%3D1795%26context%3Dgs_rp&sa=U&ved=2ahUKEwjt5-G_58rwAhVXElkFHf0SCFEQFnoECAsQAg&usg=AOvVaw30spmci5crnJBE3GN1L-yv

Apparently, this graduate solved that mystery... Basically, they were fighting about it even back then. :) Thanks for re-igniting a decades-old diagnostic controversy. :)

You're probably referring to Psychopath, as Sociopath isn't part of base Rimworld, but having this idea rolled in with that trait ain't a bad idea. :-)

@Kittenpox - I am stateside and still get the same issue. Literally kept reading this thread to see if anyone else couldn't access the link's contents.

Sorry! I trimmed the "google" ref portion out. It's a redirector link to an open-source .pdf. Basically, it's a graduate paper on the controversy surrounding the APA DSM-III conference arguing about "psychopathy" vs "sociopathy" vs" anti-social personality disorder." Several notables maintain their own arguments for/against defining whatever their favorite thing is by repeatedly saying "nuh uh" and "no, you" over and over... :) The point being that anti-social personality disorder "won," kinda, with sociopathy included as a sub, yet certain champions continued championing their powerful "nuh, uh" arguments.

TLDR: "Psychopathy" got booted from the DSM. (Which also explains why my profs were so "energetic" about it at that time. :))

There, that's much better. :)
