It also helpfully told me that she died with a mechlink installed and that someone else can use it, except, of course, there's no body (which sucks because I really want another mechinator, but I'm not getting any mechinator complexes except for the first one about 21 years ago).
And I can hold a ritual for her.
I assume she was one of the pawns I didn't choose when I started the game. So far it kind of seems like the game keeps more track of people like Veronica than it does for my colonists' family members.
That sibling thing would be rather annoying. I don't want the mother-daughter relation two of my colonists have in this game to cease. It adds something.
I just had Freya 'Tail' Fairwing show up as a caravan guard, which is curious because I know she died to one of my traps some 15 years ago (that faction is now neutral). ... And she wasn't a hussar back then and she had a different body type too.
Things seem a bit inconsistent.
This could come down to the name being picked at random when that pawn was spawned any one know how large of a name list the game has base? Sorry can't help with the other stuff but the name is easily do to a small name list the game has to pick from. I play Kenshi from time to time and it is not unusual to have 2 or 3 npcs with the same name there and that is from its small name list.
Moreover, when one of these kindred fellows bites the dust, as it'll happen reliably throughout your life, you do not need to even acknowledge it. In fact, if you come into the knowledge that uncle so-and-so has died recently, you can wittingly display how "out of touch" with reality you are and thus how callous you can be to your family, by inquiring about how uncle so-and-so is doing the next time you happen to unfortunately intersect with a member of your extended family. The average reaction will be something along the lines of, "Did you not hear? He's died!", and sometimes "Do you live under a rock? He's dead," and rarely "He's doing better than ever these days," and if the latter is true then you may reconsider dissolution of your kinship with that particular family member, as that displays a level of emotional intelligence and spiritual acuity that should be on par with your own philosophy pertaining to the world and those who dwell in it alongside yourself.
But I digress: disappearing relationships can be summarized by the 5 vowels;
- Avoid
- Evade
- Ignore
- Oppose
- Ugh
I hope this better informs you on how to create schisms between yourself and your family. Here's to division.
Freya has been showing up a lot in my most recent games, so it sort of seems like her name has a higher chance of being chosen too, which is hopefully a bug.
I think some names are randomly generated (the way first and last names are put together, and there's a faction element to it too), so there should be a very long list of possible names, but Freya is clearly someone from that naming DLC you can buy, because she always has the same name, including nickname.
People like that, with fixed names, definitely only should appear once in a game (I think they are normally struck from the list too. I've never seen this happen before, at least).
And nice to know that colonist still is alive (maybe remnant colonies are just sort of in stasis and she'll live forever, though).
Also had the mother of one of Merritt's adopted daughters (three, so far) crash in a pod, but she was a misogynist, so not so suited for a colony with all women. And I have five colonists now, which is three more than I'd planned, too.
