Co-op mode good?
Planning on buying this at this upcoming sale to play with a friend. Does the co-op mod/mode work well? And also, is this game good with a friend, because I know this originally a single player game?
Please give your comments. Would really appreciate it because this game costs a little bit much at this time for me.

thanks. but how bad is it? like does it happen frequently, say for every 15 mins? Can we just ignore it and it can be normal again or do we need to load a checkpoint?

The mod is really well done, me and a buddy played it and it desynced after a creature from a mod that wasn't supported I guess and it caused issues, reloading a previous save a few mins before stopped them from spawning in and fixed the issue, this happened after 3 hours. If you are doing vanilla rimworld with the co-op mod it should run flawlessly but if you wanna mod it keep in mind not every mod has been made comparable, the more popular/older it is the more likely it's been made compatible, there is also a google docs you can search up for finding out if any mods are compatible or not, just bring it up and use CTRL+F and search for the mod, it will tell you if it is working with it or not or if there is some issues. the mod "multiplayer compatibility" Makes a lot of mods compatible so keep that in mind. Also the co-op mod will auto sync and auto download any missing mods for those who connect to the host. Also to get it to work you have to create a single player game first then open it up to to multiplayer and your friend should be able to connect through steam without port forwarding.

thank you for your detailed answer. We will do vanilla first since we do not know any other mods.

Theres two major "multiplayer" mods. Synchronus and Asynchronus. Rimweorld together is what you use if you want to play on the same world as other people, but multiplayer is what you use if you want to play the same colony with people.

as your question about the MP has been perfectly answered already, i just wanna add: RimWorld is worth every penny! it's basically "create your own game and play the way you want to play", so the replay-value is higher than on any other game ever created before, thanks to this insane modding community ;)
watchout tho, it easily swallows people entirely. whenever i start playing it again, steam says "playtime: 140h in the past two weeks" because i literally forget to eat & to sleep x'D

I was originally on the fence and vehement on the opinion that RimWorld is strictly a singleplayer game and can almost never be enjoyed in a co-op/multiplayer setting. However, a friend of mine convinced me to play with them.

Needless to say, I did not expect the rejuvenation I had with this game and had a blast. I've also seen at least one duo who managed to beat the entire game with Zeinith's Multiplayer mod, but do be aware if you are playing with someone far away, the desync will be significantly worse.

While I love Rimworld there are other games that fit that bill, too. Factorio for example, which is equally mod-crazy. And CCGs, in particular the OG Magic: the Gathering, is per definitiion a game that you can play however you want since you decide which cards to use and many of them alter the game's rules. I don't think there is a game with more replay-value than Magic. I stopped collecting cards 7 years ago because the stash I already have lasts for a life-time of new ideas and ways to play that game.

I really tried to like Factorio but it just doesn't happen. When I run into something tedious or difficult in another game, the payoff of it motivates me to push forward. As soon as I encounter something like that in Factorio I ask why I'm doing it and I realize I'm just building this factory to be able to build the next, and I'm only building the next to be able to build the one that comes after, and then I just go play a videogame that feels more like a game than unpaid work.

Asking for myself since I have no friends...

Will there be a 50% off event for RimWorld?? 20% is decent but 50% off is better.
Has this title ever been 50% off?

:coffee:

I think so but the game isn't exactly expensive and worth every cent even at full price. And it's important to support indie/small studios like this one.
