What to do about venerated animal overpopulation?
I have like 30 turkeys. Can't sell them and eating them gives a terrible mood. Help?

Edit- I held out and a trader came along and bought all of the offspring of my original turkeys. Got a good amount of money, maybe this wasn't a bad idea after all

No mod. Venerated animals part of Ideologies Dlc.
I realize that. Was saying that some ideology options add nothing to the game, and I'm grateful that mods can potentially make then more worth playing with.

This is what happens when you eat them

You can remove venerated animals from your ideology when you create it.
But agreed, this option is (imo) serve only RP function, till you add Pawnmorpher. Then your pawns can gain mutations related to your venerated animal.
Can't name other mod, that would add any bonus to venerated animals.

Pretty sure it depends on total animal size vs colonist number (and it likely counts all colonists and not just the ones of that ideology). If you play with big population, you will need big animal population too.
That's what I think as well. In my colony of 100+ pawns, I had around 150 huskies but it had no positive influence on mood, whether they were around those animals or not (huskies were my venerated animals). So at some point it becomes impossible to gain any benefit from venerated animals.
To me that makes it only valuable early on or for RP reasons.
that seems like a really ♥♥♥♥♥♥ ideology then if you have to have an overwhelming number of animals compared to pawns just to get the buff. would have thought 1:1 would be all you need for maximum benefit.

It's based on the body size of the animal(s) in relation to the number of colonists you have. You need a *lot* more of the smaller animals to get the mood buff, where you may need a dozen (or three) elephants or thrumbo. The video I mentioned of Rarr being overrun by rats he only had like a +20 or +30 mood boost. From 5000+ rats.

So go with big animals and a small tribe or don't bother with venerated animals.

Place icecubes around your PC, to not fry it with that many rats / chickens.
But as we talking, im started a new colony (random ideology) and got the turkey as venerated animal. I'm already have a breeding pair, and 3 fertilized eggs.

If it's turkey, can't you just turn their eggs into kibble to make them not breed infinitely?

Doesn't having a massive animal farm make the mechanoid raids 10x harder?

If you have a few dozen non-combat animals, you might get a few more mechs. If you have a few dozen combat trainable animals, you might get a handful of mechs more (usually much less than those animals could handle by themselves). If you play on 500% scaling though, anything that is not useful for you should probably be avoided.

You can try separating male and female birds into different pens so if you get too many you can stop them breeding more.

this might explain why i'm getting constant mechanoid raids of a dozen+. i've got some 50+ chickens and another 2 dozen between boomalopes, alpacas, elephants, and a thrumbo
