[BUG] Pawns won't stop changing their clothes.
I downloaded Vanilla Apparel Expanded (possibly unrelated) and suddenly my pawns keep switching their gear out CONSTANTLY!

I even see them just sit there, swapping between the two pairs of pants 5-10 times in a row.

Parka > Vest > Parka > Vest > Parka > Vest > Parka > Vest

I thought it might be because I left a Climate controller on, and they are stuck in a loop of "It's permasummer wear this. But it's cold outside wear this" but that doesn't explain why they keep swapping between two Normal Devilstrand Scarf (99%) over and over again.

I thought it might be VAE but it happens with vanilla clothes too... And they are all high durability.

I can solve this problem with "force wear" but then I have to tell them to switch out of tattered clothes, and it's clearly not intended. Anyone know what it might be?

If it wasn't happening before you downloaded that mod, it's almost 100% related. Disable the mod and see what happens.
I have the same mod installed, but until today's update didnt have that problem. Now I'm experiencing the same. I guess it has something to do with the pawns trying to adapt to changing temperatures.

Please report this to the mod author on the mod page of the Steam Workshop so that they can fix it for everyone who uses the mod.

Vanilla Apparel Expanded was updated on Aug 6th, and I didn't start having this problem until today.

Several mods updated last night/today. I thought maybe it was Weapon Quality Matters, but disabling it resulted in the same behavior.

I'll start going down the list and disabling until I hit it.

Update
Well, disabled everything that updated in the last 24 hours and didn't find the cause. Went ahead and disabled Vanilla Apparel Expanded and that didn't stop the behavior either.

I'm at a loss. Could it be an issue with the base game/Royalty? Was 1.2 hotfixed and I didn't notice?

My pawns constantly swap recon armor and marine armor. And I dont have Vanilla Apparel Expanded so this is not problem with this mod.

Thanks for clarifying this!

HugsLib got an update and I'd hoped that would have fixed it. It didn't.

I'm just going to start a vanilla game, spawn in a bunch of clothes, and see what they do.

Did anyone find out how to fix this or what mod is causing it?
MinionJoe Aug 18, 2020 @ 12:31pm
Haven't yet, no.

I got tired of watching pawn swap from excellent 100% jackets to 51% good quality jackets, so I just destroyed all the excess apparel in my settlement and forced everyone to wear what they've got on. Thanks to OP pointing out the the force wear workaround.

I'll start a new game soon. I'm suspecting it may have something to do with mod order at this point, since the majority of my subscribed mods have already been updated to 1.2.

I do not use the mod either, but have the same problem.
I started a new game with 1.2, same modlist. Problem is gone. So I guess the update just broke a couple of things unrelated to mods.

I think it's related to the unstable build that got pushed. Some syntax has changed that is impacting mods- so the mod author isn't the one to report this ti.

It's a known thing in the unstable discord channel I think.

So did anyone here figure out what is causing it? I have the same exact problem

Nope still having it happen
a simple cure could be to ban them from clothes room
