Is there any downside to dig into mountains like dwarfs?`I read somewhere that I could possibly create a spawn for enemies?
As for components, as mentioned before, deconstruct ship chunks, disassemble mechanoids, trade. Trade is the most reliable way to get it to start with, as many caravans coming your way will carry components, particularly bulk goods traders from outlander (non-tribal) factions.
Once you've researched Fabrication, you can build the Fabrication Bench (note that this requires both components and advanced components, the latter you should look for in caravans that come your way and make sure to buy and keep at least two). At the Fabrication Bench you can craft components for the cost of 12 steel each.
I tried this but got no idea how it works :D
