Can't Rename Animals? (Is This A Bug?)
On the "Training" tab of a tamed animal there's a little rectangle with a line in it symbol which is for renaming a pet... theoretically. I click it and a pop-up shows that looks like I should be able to rename the pet.

BUT: It just stays as "Labrador Retriever 14" or whatever. I can't erase or add letters to the name in the typing box. The line of where you're typing moves back & forth as if it's supposed to be doing something, even though it's not. The pet is a puppy that some of my other dogs had, so it's not like it had a real name before. It's still "0 years old".

So what's going on with this?
Is this a known bug? Or what...?

Nope, there shouldn't be bugs. I rename animals quite often and it works as advertised.

Do you use mods? You might to have to check those if you do.

Zero mods. The game is complex enough without adding more on top of it all. :skyelaugh:

Lol, I agree (and I'm too lazy to manage mods).

OK, that's odd. Have never ever experienced this bug. Probably should report this at Ludeon (see: https://ludeon.com/forums/index.php?topic=513.0).

At times like this it's important to restart comp and see if the problem persist when you boot the game back up again afterwards, it could be a bugged background process or something interfering with your input.

Huh... okay this is weird.
I tried renaming a pig, and I was able to rename it ("Not Soy Bacon" haha) but I can't rename any of my "Labrador Retriever" 's.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

I had this bug before, don't remember exactly how I fixed it but one of these should do.

1. Mouse click at the end or the beginning of the name and press delete or backspace.

2. press control + A to highlight the whole name and press delete.

One of these options should work from what I remember.

I have now reported the bug at the official forum, so hopefully it will be patched in the next few updates. Until then you can rename the dogs by mouse-marking their entire name before you try to clear it.

Anyone who want to give an input (like if you discover other animals with a similar issue) feel free to supplement the bug report: https://ludeon.com/forums/index.php?topic=54521.0

Thanks!
Lab 14 is now named "Lucky". Also I'll now feel bad for not naming all the others.

Necro to confirm this is a random general issue with any animal. In my instance it was on a Timber wolf puppy. I was lucky enough to find this post via google search results.

Cheers for the fix. :firstCommit:
