RimWorld

Live forever? (though becoming a cyborg ?)
Has anyone attempted this? iI'm using a few mods for bio organs, hook hands, along with a mod that ads new chipsets for the brain, but i dont know if these alone will make a civ live forever (aka not die of old age/condition.).

Is this possible? Ive never seen one die of old age yet. Also know of any good mods that include new implants/replacement parts may help me with this insane quest of mine?

Ideally, a Ghost in the Shell type mod would be neat.

In Rimworld, pawns die from wounds, or from organ failure - or more specifically, those affect Consciousness and if that specific detail hits 0, they're dead.

Pawns do not die of "old age", but as they age they're more likely to have health defects as they reach the next year of their life; and those health issues will reduce Consciousness as they build up, eventually bringing them to zero.

Some of these can be bypassed, such as having a Bionic Heart, but while it is possible for a pawn to live forever with good RNG, it's better to assume they will eventually pass on and plan accordingly.

Ive never had a colonist die of old age, but i would assume theres just a "sudden death" that happens when they get wayyyyy too old.

Pawns don't die of old age. The most dangerous thing for extremely old pawns is diseases, as immunity gain rate drops with advanced age. Luciferium and immunoenhancers can supplement this to help out, and Penoxycyline used to prevent several disease types, but eventually they won't be able to recover from a Flu or Infection without use of healer mech serum.

As Kittenpox and gep says, there's no direct way that age can kill a pawn. Each birthday they have a chance to contract a long-term ailment (or in some cases, a short-term one, like a cardiac arrest) that can kill them over time, the chance for which increases as the pawn ages, but extensive testing has proven that there's an upper limit on these chances and they are not seeded, so the can be prevented by something as simple as loading a previous save. Essentially, what this means is that pawns are immortal unless injuries or RNG says otherwise.

If you're looking for a way to preserve pawns past even that, the one thing that comes to mind is the Android Tiers mod. It allows you to connect your pawns to a central core and upload their consciousness to it, and then clone it to any android you own, making them essentially immortal unless you lose your core.

So its a fight vs lowering immunity. Does that have a cap on how low it goes ?

Anyone know of a mod for this?

Not what im after, i like the idea of taking the brain and cyborging it up, and upgrading ones body until everything is replaced. The flavor of this, is much better roleplay wise.

each birthday the older the pawn is, the more likely they are to get ill with a chronic condition. Chronic conditions affect organs and bionic organs are immune to them. So theoretically if you replace everything in a colonist, they won't have get any chronic conditions at birthdays. Many mods have various immunity enchancement implants and in my experience they are always enough to keep someone old alive

Well, you can avoid some chronic conditions by replacing parts, but not everything can be replaced. A list:

Alzheimers - cannot be prevented as the brain cannot be replaced.
Asthma - cannot be prevented as no lung bionics exist, can be added by mods which can prevent the condition. Additionally lungs can be transplanted from "willing" "donators".
Bad back - can be prevented with bionic spine.
Cataracts - can be prevented with bionic / archotech eyes.
Carcinoma - cannot be prevented as it doesn't target specific body part. Can be amputated (depending on body part) or excised by a skilled medic (always).
Dementia - cannot be prevented as the brain cannot be replaced.
Frail - cannot be prevented as it targets the body.
Artery blockage - can be prevented with bionic heart.
Hearing loss - can be prevented with bionic ear.
Heart attack - can be prevented with bionic heart.

i think most bionic mods add brain replacements, epoe also adds a neurological framework or something like that that can cure all brain diseases. Also I think some epoe implants replace torso and remove frail

Speaking of “living forever,” how long can a colony actually last? I don’t think I’ve had a run go longer than a dozen years. Has anyone gone 20,30, 50 years?

I have only used EPOE for extra bionics (which, last I checked, does not include brain replacement), so I can't speak for other mods. Hence why I made everything in the list vanilla solutions unless otherwise specified. Also, EPOE does not have anything that can remove Frail. Nor does it have a "neurological framework" - it does have some implants that can alleviate the penalties of certain brain- or torso-related ailments, but nothing that can remove them.

I've gone up to 100 years at one point, but honestly for the last 20-ish years I was so bored the game felt like doing a chore rather than playing a game.

epoe exoskeleton suit can replace torso and remove frail
and epoe definitely has the brain damage curer which completely removes the brain damage

Unless they've drastically changed it in the past couple of weeks, EPOE's exoskeleton suit works as an implant, which does NOT replace any body parts. Hence it does not cure Frail. It can offset the penalties for Frail to some degree, but it does not remove Frail. Additionally, brain damage is not the same as chronic ailments. Brain damage is, as the name implies, when the brain has taken damage, either temporarily or permanently. Chronical ailments, such as Alzheimers, do not damage the brain. EPOE's brain implants can stimulate the brain and remove the penalties for the brain being damaged, but again, it will not REPLACE the brain, and as such, will not remove brain-related chronic ailments.

i am very certain that epoe exosceleton suit replaces torso and epoe has a separate research for a neurological cure framework that can be applied to any pawn with brain damage and it will completely remove the brain damage. It even says in the epoe description that it can repair brain damage

And, as mentioned, you are mistaken unless they've changed it very recently (as in the past two weeks or so).

To repeat myself yet again, chronic ailments affecting the brain is not the same as brain damage. Brain damage is when, surprise surprise, the brain has taken damage. Brain damage leads to a loss in consciousness equal to 10% loss per brain "HP" lost, so a brain at 6/10 would allow for a maximum of 60% consciousness. EPOE features implants that increase the max level of consciousness, specifically the Brain Stimulator (which sets max consciousness to 65%) and the AI Chip (which sets maximum consciousness to 100%). Thus they cure the effects of brain damage. But again, Alzheimers and dementia are ailments, not brain damage. They are not affected by these implants (apart from offsetting the consciousness penalty the ailments incur), nor do these brain implants replace the brain.
