Funerals without bodies...?
Just lost several intrepid colonists and my Transhumanist Collective has the funeral ritual listed but I can't seem to actually hold one. The text says an empty grave will work, and I have those, but right-clicking and such - I see nothing about how to actually have the ritual. Is the text wrong - do I need bodies?

Interesting, I've just tested out a few scenarios with losing colonists on expeditions. It seems as though the game doesn't always recognise the option to have a funeral for someone lost whilst outside of your colony - on a caravan, attacking another base etc.

What may have happened is that the desire to hold a funeral for Coal disappeared when the entire caravan was lost.

Build a grave, select the grave, choose from the options there.

I just dug a fresh grave, even though I already had empty ones, and I don't see any options for a funeral. My colonists died while out on a caravan, so I don't actually have the bodies to bury, hence my dilemma and question. Where would I be seeing those options?

Did you select the grave? Actually click on the grave itself, as if selecting any other structure. Then, assuming you have no mods screwing things up, the option to hold a funeral will show itself on the same bar of options as deleting the grave, or assigning it to another colonist when they do die.

My colonist died away from the colony. I don't have her body. My ideology allows funeral rituals. My colonists want a funeral. I dug a fresh grave. I left-clicked and right-clicked and don't see any option to hold a funeral. I'm not running any mods, just Vanilla and Ideology.

Yup, bodies are irrelevant, so I'm guessing something has buggered your ability to hold a funeral. No idea what.

Oh wait, how long ago did your colonist die? Because after...6? 9?...days or so the option to hold a funeral for them simply expires. The mood debuffs for not holding a funeral take a little longer to expire I think.

Ah, ok.. that *might* be it. It's been about five days - I was hit with raids. I sent out a party of three to get the relic (rookie mistake, apparently, lol) and Coal was killed, the other two KO'd. My notifications were that Coal had been lost and to hold a funeral for her and then that the caravan was lost - the other two colonists were taken by the Ancients or something - so I went and tried to rescue them but nobody was at the site. I grabbed the relic and made it back but got raided once in transit and again upon my return.

Ah well, thanks for your help - Happy Gaming! :)

Perhaps. The remaining colonists all have a "Colonist died x2" de-buff, which would be the two that were downed and lost to the Ancients or whatever, but each of them also has "My friend Coal died" de-buff as well. Coal was the leader, so maybe that's why she gets her own de-buff? Not sure. They definitely know she was killed and mourn her loss but just don't want to acknowledge it. Can't say I blame them, lol
