Just FYI, it is worth it to play a rebel and fight against the empire
Just mentioning this because I've read everywhere that it wasn't worth it, because there weren't any new quests, etc...

As a friend to the empire you get:
-Easy psylinks
-Royalty levels and skills
-Tons of super, ultra hard missions with great rewards that probably will destroy your game if you're playing ironman at some point

As a foe to the empire you get:
-A bunch of invaders with good skills, bionics and cataphract armors and acid implants that prevent you from taking them when they die.

The trick: Don't kill them, as always, use the best item in the game, psychock lances, you can get a couple from caravans, or just travel to some towns, buy a couple of them and enjoy your colonists wearing the best armors in the game, the best weapons in the game long before you can even make bows.

The progression speed of a rebel is nutts, as long as you do it right. And you don't have to do crazy quests against 2 mech clusters of double size for any of it.

Their raid can destroy your colony if you get unlucky with them.

But yea their progressive tech makes them good lootboxes

It is for sure a different experience, one that should have been expanded upon by now. Fun for tribals to roleplay too.

Also, those sweet bionic implants can be easily turned into a weakness. Hard to fight when your brain is fried by a emp grenade.

Eh, I mean, both are fine ways to play, I guess. Which one is "worth" doing is kind of up to you though. I can think of plenty of other uses for psyshock lances, the empire's not the only faction with highly skilled pawns (although generally probably the only with bionics).

Personally I just ignore quests that seem like they're gonna be deadly. Or the ones that are like "Use 5k stone blocks to build a piece of garbage monument" when you only have like 1k stone blocks pre-cut. Like nobody's forcing you to take every quest and you should be deciding what's worth trying instead of getting blinded by the reward offers.

I always betray when doing the ceremony and steal the links. Then build up favor again to initiate the event again and betray them again.
Rinse and repeat for easy Psylinks, access to quests since my guy has a bunch of Honor and I did the Charity event at the start and their raids aren't that difficult and pretty lucrative.

Just wondering here: Does the bestower ever spawn spawn with more than one extra neuroformer?
