Converting
Is there a faster way to convert a colonist?
So far the fastest is to arrest them then convert them which is idiotic.
I know you can use the convert feature on your "priest" but it only moves 15ish and takes 3 days to use again. The colonists faith goes back up a little in the meantime.

Thanks for any tips. I might have missed something simple here IDK.

It's based on social skill of your moral guide and the traits of the pawn you are trying to convert. Wearing clothes with social impact helps I think. A good social pawn can convert a colonist by like 65% in one attempt of the ability (or 100% if they are kind/wimp), and the conversion ritual with them will fully convert a pawn as long as they aren't like iron-willed psychopaths.

There should also be a ritual at a building/spot to convert. Check the different floors and such that your ideology has available.

Not quite sure if "Social" is what impacts the convert amount, but I have certainly seen higher than only 15%. This may also be affected by the pawn you are converting. Some of them are just harder than others. IIRC, if you go into their social and hover over the bar at the top of that window it will give you some info about how they are affected by attempts.

SNIPED by Astasia! ;)

I never get over 15 but my Social is 9. maybe it needs to be higher.

EDIT to add I do have the convert ritual. will try that.

Thanks for the feedback

Just need to correct myself a bit there, I checked in game and it's not based on social impact, so a bowler hat wont help. It's just based on social skill, with a dependency on speaking and hearing (both capped at 100%). My last game I think I had a colonist with a social skill of 19 because of some skilltrainers I got from a quest, she was extremely effective at converting people.

Thanks for the update!

I just failed my conversion ritual lol. 20 day cool down.

Yeah that stinks. I am 0/4 on conversion rituals (they had an 80% chance to succeed each time). I decided to only try to use it if the target pawn is at very high certainty already. Otherwise it's a waste of your moral guide's convert ability, plus they gain back like ~20% certainty.

Personally I'd rather just do it the slower way without the possibility of RNG screwing me.

Its fairly fast to imprison them and do it that way. All your pawns will try to convert and you can use the convert "priest" skill. Down side is they are in jail for a few days.

Just seems a waste though. Hopefully some conversion mods come out that make sense and are not game breaking.

I would like ALL my colonists to try to convert like the pawn is a prisoner even if he is not.

They sort of do, but that's what the Proselytizer meme is for. All of your colonists have a chance to attempt to convert a pawn during normal conversations, the chance is fairly low by default. The Proselytizer meme allows you to boost that chance to 700% so you can just passively convert colonists without having to use the convert ability or ritual.

Proselytizer is also Social Skill based, so you need kinda both, also bringing em together helps

My Issue with that is I use Hospitality mod. I didnt want my guys harassing my guest. Or do they only do it to Colonists?

I don't know how it works with hospitality guests. For quest related guests that join your colony and show up on the top bar, they will constantly attempt to convert them, I've found this is usually more beneficial than harmful as it can flip them pretty quickly sometimes making it easier to manage their mood.

Yep, and currently there doesn't seem to be any diplomatic hit. Wonder if that'll change in the future??

I don't think they'd do this, largely because of how it passively converts just through pawns talking, and the fact that pawns can randomly convert to a completely random different ideology if they're under duress. It's also set up in a way where faction is separate from ideology where you can have members from multiple ideologies and multiple factions can have the same ideology at the start, depending on your seed.

Well this makes that a no brainer then.

One of my prisoners had a mental breakdown in prison and lost almost all his faith and he was easy to convert.
After one convert attempt have been done, make him break down and you might get the same.

There should be some brainwashing rituals for the more evil ideologies to speed up the process.
