the recovery is individual to every single sanguophage therefore while the recovery time wont decrease the amount of pawns you can change over time increases.
sanguophages are a very powerful xenotype but they have their downsides. they struggle with sunlight, require a steady supply of blood and have to deathrest every so often.
personally i wouldnt recommend taking in any sanguophages if your colony is struggling. if you can handle it they will become your best fighters - especially for melee
And yes you can extract their Sanguphage genes as well, but the Archite genes can not be extracted.
They have strong wills so by the time your colonist recruits them, their genes will probably have finished regrowing, and you can have them implant their xenogerm without them dying in the process.
If you want to keep a sanguophage as a gene dispenser you can either recruit him/her or simply remove his/her heart (It won't die. It will be forced into deathrest forever, just turn food to nothing and blood to 0 and turn of auto waken. Put it in a closet).
Is it worth to recruit them if their skills are not great? They have passion double passion in intellectual, and just 1 passion in guns and social. Even though I already have a decent speech and 20 intellectual would it be worth it recruit them? Guns are always needed and they still only have 6 melee but they're the 2nd best melee and only other melee in the colony if I recruit them. Basically nothing of huge worth besides potentially being a back up for both (both are my scientist and warden are kinda old) but they are fast learner too.
And they could still be useful, at least until their genes finish regrowing and you can make another.
Sanguophages has the deathless gene.
Unless you manage to completely destroy their brain, their whole head or decapitate them (completely destroy the neck) they can't die*.
You can quite literately remove a Sanguophages heart without killing it (it will just be stuck in a deathrest state until a new heart is installed).
*Unless its by one of the few guaranteed death mechanics in the game, like taking genes that hasn't regrown yet.
I'm just gonna wait to recruit them to start with the genes since I only have one prisoner to farm and have no idea how much a vampire needs for blood.
Theoretically speaking, with the right (or wrong, depending on perspective) pawn and weapon, i think you could feasibly accidentally decapitate them in a single hit. But its very unlikely (perhaps avoid using your best melee pawn with the best melee weapon just in case).
Anyway, why not just sedate them instead if you are worried? (its a operation called "Anesthetize").
