Is there a way to not store skeletons in the storage room?
So basically I've set a storage area in order to store animal corpses. For some reason, I have now several skeletons of animals in there. Is there a way to set the storage area to not store skeletons but only dead animals with meat?

Thank you in advance!

uncheck Allow Rotten

Also make sure you have a dumping zone that only allows rotten for the rotten corpses so they will haul them out of your main storage

Not the best solution unfortunately.

If I do your way, to remove the skeleton I need another storage area that permits the storage of rotten corpses AND animal corpses. This means.... that yes in this way I can move the skeletons to a dumping stockpile, for example, but it also permits normal corpses with meat to finish in my dumping stockpile..... :(

How to solve this?

OptionA: create that new dump zone and force them to move out the skeletons then delete the zone.

OptionB: I'm pretty sure vanilla has "allow fresh" as a setting. If that's true disallow fresh on the second dump stock.

Storage #1 (butchering), Priority 'Preferred':
- Allow Fresh, don't allow rotten.
- Animal Corpses allowed, all others restricted.

Storage #2 (dumping), Priority 'Normal':
- Allow Fresh, Allow Rotten.
- All corpses allowed.

The fresh corpses will only be put in the other storage if your butchering storage is full.
Or you can have 2 storages, one for rotten animals, one for all humanoids, the former only allowing rotten, the latter allowing all. Also, graves are useful until you get a crematorium as well, you can always exhume them to burn them if you run out of space.

Or.. make a massive graveyard with loads of statues in it, filled with the corpses of all your vanquished foes.

No it doesn't because normal corpses are "fresh" not "rotten." One stockpile allows fresh, one allows rotten, only the rotten ones go in the rotten stockpile and only the fresh corpses go in the fresh stockpile.

Later you can get the crematorium that also allows you to burn rotted corpses (so you don't even need to store the rotted corpse in another stockpile). This burning option is also useful in case you don't like seeing rotted corpses around your map (even the ones you weren't originally storing anyway).
